Rambles on Kat-tun Live Tour 2012 Chain
Dec. 15th, 2012 09:11 pmMy EroP DVD package is stuck between post offices because the bloody Mr. Postman didn't even bother to deliver the registered package to my home and just deemed it as FAILED DELIVERY and now it's just sitting in the main sorting center (dunno where the hell this is). So, now I have no new DVD to watch, well, I can rewatch my collection, but, I'm feeling for something new, so when it's something new, might as well go for something absolutely new, the untouched realm for me, Kat-tun. I never watch any of Kat-tun's concert DVD before except for bunch of clips over the Youtube realm and what's on Youtube is mostly Kame's solo, which are well... over the top with all the flying etc, so I can't really say whether this concert is better than their previous ones, but I can offer the non fan point of view.
I don't really listen to Kat-tun's songs except for a few songs that I by chance heard it over M-station or Music Lovers, whichever, and thought, 'hey, the song's not bad, let's check it out.' But, most of the time, I don't really get Kat-tun's music. Don't get me wrong, I find some of their non-title slow songs are nice, eg. Sweet Chain or Answer, but the loud and migraine induced title songs especially the older ones, hmmm... can't really digest them. For some reason, I like Keep the Faith, but not Real Face. So, with the sporadic like and dislike, for the longest time, I very seldom think of checking their stuffs. This year though, seems different because I see Kat-tun more often, probably because of Youkai Ningen Bemu, and lots of good reviews about the Chain concert, so... time to check it out.
Well, it's Johnny's concert, and as far as I know from all the DVDs I've watched and concerts I've gone to, they deliver. Each group has different style and the concert reflects this as well. First thing came to my mind when watching Chain is it's dark and because of that Tokyo Dome looks even bigger than usual (from DVD point of view, I never go there LOL). The pitch black background is so defined so any lighting in different color looks so sharp that it's just kakkoii. I didn't sense any kawaii element in this concert, at all, and I guess, this is Kat-tun's image, which makes them different, but doesn't mean that the concert is not enjoyable, on the contrary, it's just a totally different kind of concert, and it makes you to appreciate different music style as well. Even dancing style is different too, well, you still can see some standard Johnny's moves, but not so much. One thing I can say is that Kat-tun's fan service and MC are really for their fans. These are the 2 things that I don't really get and maybe that's why I never really visit Kat-tun land. But other than that, I'd say the concert is fabulous!, well put together and definitely worth the money.
Some of my favorite performances:
Soldier - It's a slow song and they just stand on the cart and sing. But maybe it's the atmosphere that makes the whole performance moving.
Nakamaru's Beatbox performance - this one is really cool! It's not just a short performance and the cool point move up one more notch when he started jamming with the band. Me: *awed and replay*.
Chain of Love - or basically the whole segment of that moving chain air balloon. I like how they're circling dome with that balloon back and forward like caterpillar.
Zutto (Kame's solo) - It comes after Koki's miao-ing solo, so the feel is totally the same like when you watch Ashita no Kioku came after Matsujun's Shake it on Beautiful World. The solo is so subtle and it makes you totally focus on Kame (that's the intention), minimal lighting but with impact. and off course, we have to have the beautiful flying scene with the glitters.

See? It's beautiful ne? And then he twirled as he went up.
The dance sequence between Never*Over and Give Me.Give Me.Give Me - the mask dance is totally cool and I'm just a sucker to this kind of performance hehehe...

Yuuki no Hana - and I found the cue in Youtube, the song touched me...
And off course the freaking lighting and stage.... Nice!!!!

I love the Chain theme. They linked up the words egao (smile), yuuki (courage), ai (love), nakama (friendship) and kibou (hope) in their lyrics and at the end of the concert make the fans hold hands together to form the chain.

And after watching this concert, I developed likeness in Taguchi's voice LOL. I just like deep voice and with no nasal sound haha...
The must to be mentioned... Kame hair looks styled no matter how much he dance, not even out of place and his hair is not short! How on earth that possible? And his face is always picture perfect that it's kinda freak me out a bit LOL...
How about using this for your treadmill session? Definitely! The first exactly 30 minutes is the fast up beat songs, then you have another fast session in the mid part and most of the members' solos (except Kame) are dance songs.
