Digitalian

It's been really awhile since I did caps for con DVD. Seems that it's already a norm for Arashi to do 2 different kinds of concerts in a year, thus 2 DVDs *Johnny's cash register is ringing very loudly.' Last year went with a blast with Blast in Hawaii and Digitalian. The former gives you so much feels as a fan and lots of beautiful shots thanks to the beautiful Hawaii. Then Arashi went back to their turf, a 5 dome tour, with Digitalian. Since the theme is digital, and based from the album songs, I'd imagine Matsujun had gone wild with the tech stuff for the concert, and I think he actually did that after I watched the DVD. He may do something even funkier than Digitalian in the future, but as of now, I think Digitalian is the most tech loaded concert that Arashi has pulled so far. We have the fan light (that only can be felt why it's cool when you look at the whole dome, not just yourself holding it), the real time members' heart beat, revamped moving stage (I find this one so cool LOL), and the technology for muscle movement to control sound and light (not sure the actual term but it's really cool when it's incorporated into a performance). So what are we waiting for?

Looks cool eh? Honestly at first I'm not convinced I'll like this stage layout, but Matsujun proved me wrong.
The concert began with Asterisk. It's a cool song, but what's cool here is they're using this song to basically showcase what the stage can do and entice the audience to know more what they have under their sleeves. Very smart!

Even with minimum lights, this stage looks cool and you can see why it's designed that way. It fits perfectly as chunks of big parts of let's say, a Gundam? Yes? and they have the heartbeat showcased at all times...

Then the stage has the elevator on the tip of the higher floor, that seemed to be a normal one, but then...

The lower stage (quite a chunk of it), detached to be a moving stage, and look at the fanlight! That's digitalian for you!
There's only 2 things from Bittersweet to make it into my caps. Definitely not the song, not the performance (it's cute but we've seen it so many times on music station).

They change the display screen to something like glass mozaic to the gems and hearts which is lovely!

And the costume! I'm very curious on the material, it looks like fake snake skin print to me and the colors are all over the place. But when you pair it with the stage and you have the dance formation like the one in my caps, it works!
My favorite performance from Digitalian is none other than DISCO STAR! This can be easily my fave Aiba-chan's solo. I think this song is really made for him. It fits his personality and his energy. He really owned the performance too!

Our disco star-sama was carried in the tent to make his grand entrance

The dance style is comical in Aiba-chan style and at the same time he pulled it off as 1 second of sexiness in between. And Aiba-chan would like to remind every one of us that he could do hip roll and thrusts very well *wink*.

Bonus cap. Just because and let's admire how flat this washboard (not that he's not flat before) is. Seems all his sit ups exercise paid off? And for once Aiba-chan actually showed more skin than Matsujun in a concert. LOL.

And we have the disco star walk! Can easily tell that this definitely will become a meme LOL

And they have to do this again! This time with pivot and change side <3

This is how Aiba-chan owned the song, he's acting as a Disco star and the whole dome is there to worship him.XD

And he's drenched like a soaked rat by the end of the performance. Good job!
Now, I'm not really in particular like Sho-chan's solo, but somehow, I liked this Hey Yeah! The song itself is pretty normal, I find, nothing special to me. But when I watched this performance with the sub, the lyrics and the message got me. It's so positive that I trully believe that Sakurai Sho is the idol that your mom will definitely approve of. His song has 3 parts, to answer 3 questions: 1. What's your happiness? 2. What's your dream? 3. Who are your happiness?

This is more of performance with message. It's positive that actually it makes me happy just listening to it.

1 + 2 + 3 x *cross finger* = Hey Yeah!
I didn't look up on the track list so I was quite surprise that we get this Love Wonderland. I like this song for the light and happy tone. But now that we have the performance, I like it even more.

Simple, no gimmick performance with the light choreography but boy, they're so happy singing this song. The feels!
Wish is here just because this is the song that maximizing those fan lights. To think that almost everybody bought the fanlight, how much guaranteed money that Johnny's got just from the concert goods. This is a really smart marketing gimmick. And off course we get the beautiful scenes that the team can change and control the lightings from the from and back of the dome.

Pretty, ne?
Ah, Matsujun solo. I like the song, I like the choreography, but the only one bugging question is: what's with that flowery loose shirt? No doubt it's probably a designer's label considering it's Matsujun but a loose shirt that looks like ladies' sleepwear on a dance number? I like Juniors' costume better! Plus it's very unusual for Matsujun to have such costume as most of his solo are fast beat songs with dance and that includes him being sexy *cue: take off his shirt in the middle of the performance*. Probably this time he can't do that fan service as they have wired him for the heart beat thingy.

Only Matsujun know why he had this oversized white shirt on.

But that smile can never go wrong, though.
Hope in the Darkness is where they use the muscle movement tech thingy. I find that it's quite tricky of a technology to use for concert and I'd applaud Matsujun for making this to actually work. Since the technology relies on muscle movement, they focus on the hand movement and each member was in charge of specific sounds. But that also means that their hand movement is restricted to specific movements only, else they'll be making noise, not a sound. Aiba-chan in particular had only ONE movement. So, with such restriction, how they make it work in a concert performance where they're supposed to look cool?

Specific movement only, so we're seeing them tapping, swaying hands, and that's it. Kind of awkward if it's not managed properly in a performance.

So they compensate the restriction with for example, the freaking gorgeous lighting.

Kudos for Aiba-chan for actually made himself look kakkoii despite having to keep still when it's not his turn to make sound.

They don't move a lot for this performance, but I'd think it takes lots of concentration to keep track of the beats while singing and looking cool.

And off course utilizing penlight and we have a gorgeous Tokyo Dome.

Bonus cap: because this cap looks so simple and pretty
Zero G is normal, not much a hype for me, probably because they've performed this before in Music Station. But what I find it interesting is the costume. It's trendy and cool, but when they use purple light, those stipes on their pants are glowing. It's like those glow in the dark but more subtle and somehow only works when it's purple light.

It becomes a standard now to see this air balloons that it doesn't surprise me anymore. How much Johnny's has spoiled us with their concert gimmicks.

The last portion of the concert when they have the medley of all their past singles. In particular the last sequence of Calling --> Dare mo Shiranai --> Guts!. They made the ending pose to be conveniently the start pose for the next song, I like that detail.

Bonus: Kakkoii Aiba-chan to cue for the fire works in Calling

Ending pose of Calling and ending pose of Dare mo Shiranai (it's still the same as original)

So they change GUTS! beginning pose XD
One fun point to note. I start noticing this since Blast in Hawaii concert that for the uniform costumes, Matsujun's is always a little bit more different than the rest and often more striking. Is it just me or this just shows that our concert master is a diva in and out? Example:

His is the only one made from velvet, while the rest is just more plain materials

Now let's talk about some furs and feathers. Can almost guarantee that he's the only one with it and when Nino's have a little dangling black fur on his collar, Matsujun's must have that big feather for his collar LOL.
I had fun watching Digitalian, but does Digitalian get to be my number 1 now? Hmm... that's a tough one. Though I'd say I like what I saw, but I like Digitalian purely from watching concert point of view. The feels are in the BTS DVD (that a session interview of Matsujun explaining the concert concept and the work behind what we're seeing would be nice though), I don't really feel it in the con itself, with exception of Sho-chan seems to be so engrossed with Disco Star walk. So, to me, LOVE is still the number one on my list. I knew that it'll be very hard for the future concerts to beat LOVE, from the theme, concept and fan service. But I'd want Matsujun to beat it! Ganbare!
Now that Matsujun already had his hands on LED tech, when are we gonna see those flying particle tech from Shiyagare in the concert? XD XD
