That Harem Drama Epi 19

spsnI thought I'd lump this with the final episode today, but after I watched this one with the sub... nah, it'll be too much. As we're going to the last episode, there's so much literal shit crammed into this 1 episode, worse than epi 18, and it's going to the direction of C-version ending. I hope it goes a different way considering how different the characterization between the K and C-version, but since it's already done this way, then let's see how it goes with the final episode.
As if shits are not enough for our precious pup in epi 18, in this episode, more fuels are added, and I must say the writer has been very thorough with the characters, they don't leave anybody, even our precious Baek Ah, out, everybody must suffer except for the filthy 9th prince (this fact just hit me and it's beyond me since I want that 9th prince dead like in C-version, I mean if they want to follow C-version, that's the least they can do right? at least 1 more filthy snake died?). I don't understand how he still can live and even manage to make So suffer further through the snake Wook. Does the writer love 9th prince that much?
Even Baek Ah is not spared from the tragedy, why ???
As for our main OTP which already start sinking since epi 17, epi 19 hits them even harder, and as much as I find Hae Soo to be incredibly stupid and selfish in the past 2 episodes for all her actions and turn one eye whenever it comes to So only to realize it when So finally had enough, I can't blame her and I even find it it's still within her character to do that. Again, this is one of the points that I like from this drama, their characters are consistent, even under multiple layers. Soo at the very core is still a 21st century girl and the bloody battle to reach the throne and to keep the throne doesn't gel with her value. On top of that, Soo thinks more with her emotion, not with her rationale, but her emotion is kind of twisted in a way too. After episode 19, I'm not even sure if Soo actually ever loved So, at least in the same way So loved Soo. She never said that she loved him, none of the scenes that I remember of, and it's always So who showers her with 'I love you.' She also separates her supposed to be love from action and trust, these 2 never really match, especially when it comes to So. And then you'll see another different attitude when it comes to Wook, and it'll seem like she'll do anything for Wook, since day 1 until now, gee, no wonder So was so angry and hurt when the cat was out of the bag. Add all this into the equation and with the 21st century attitude that you can just switch off, get out from the mess you're in, she just persistently wants out from the palace, whether it'll hurt So or not, it'll never occur to her, until So literally said it in front of her, 'how much more you'd hurt me?'. Classic. Then you might wonder what was epi 14-16 all about? Well, it's about Soo tried to fit into 10th century and deluded herself into compromising her core 21st century value, and you know what will happen if you keep doing things against your very core value? You'll break down and die inside, which is exactly what happened here.
And only now you regret? SMH, but gotta say that IU did a good job in this drama!
Then we have the precious pup, working so hard at the throne to keep everybody safe. But the thing is he's working too hard and only Baek Ah actually appreciated it and tried to understand, even so, he couldn't stay besides his beloved hyungnim until the end, it'll ruin him as well and Baek Ah knows it. Damn throne, the things you could do to our precious pups. As a king, so far So did a splendid job, he did all the right thing. Punished the wrong, freed those suffered from injustice, managed those greedy clans and the snakes, he did all. Everything he does has its rationale and he's actually quite objective in doing so as well. The only time he abused his power so far is only when he monopolize Queen Yo's deathbed in epi 18. Only unfortunately, his only beloved didn't appreciate it at all. I wonder what Soo wanted So to actually do, let all the snakes run havoc without punishment eventhough it could cost him his own life? That's pretty much unrealistic. To add to the wound, Jung slammed the marriage thing to So, and did Soo care how much that'll hurt So? Not really, she said it herself to Baek Ah, she doesn't like the idea of the marriage with Jung but if that's what it takes to get her out, she'll take it. Damn, that's just cruel. But still, So, being consistent and loyal as hell, clings to his love until the final blow, Wook's romance story with Soo. That's the final string and So breaks, and even so, he still tried his best to salvage the already sinking relationship, only to be hurt more. So in the end, So lets Soo go under the premise that Soo has never loved him, quoting 'I didn't abandon her, she abandoned me.' That's such a lonely line for a man with the absolute power. *went to the corner and sniffed*
That single tear will always get you!
Damn this drama is good and it breaks our heart so much. 1 more epi to go!
And trully the only winner in this whole fiesco is Yeon Hwa, ha!
