Bride of the Water God Episode 1 & 2

I actually have the caps done BEFORE I went back Singapore, and thought of writing the rest during my vacation... as if that's going to happen. Now back down under, the caps are still here and nothing written, plus they already up to episode 8, far away from episode 2 obviously. But nevertheless, it's a shame to waste caps (especially the pretty ones), so here we are. Bride of Water God is based on manhwa, and that's the only similarity, story-wise. Just like the terminology of 'remake' in Criminal Minds, the term 'live action' shouldn't be used for this series. They should just use 'inspired', not even adaptation, if they're just going to take the theme and some if not all the characters' names, and have the story completely different from the manhwa counterpart. Thankfully I'm not invested in the manhwa so I'll just look at this drama as a clean blank canvas, and yes, without being attached to the manhwa, it's a nice light romcom drama to watch. TVN doesn't really disappoint me so far.

Divine blessing from a Water God? What could it be, hmmm...
And prettiness we do get. Nam Joon Hyuk is so pretty with long hair and smokey eye make up. Hell, he's prettier here than he's in harem drama.

Habaek is a water god who's destined to be the king in gods realm. But to be a king, he needs god stone which he needs to find in the human realm. Why they have to place the stones in human realm? Ah, even Habaek questioned this, but the drama has none of this type of question because we need a show to watch. So, off Habaek goes to the human realm, with NOTHING *queue: FAN SERVICE*. And why TVN just have to bother blurring up some human body parts? Sigh...

To make things worse, Habaek also lost his power, gasp, you don't say, and as the result, he couldn't convert stones to gold, and have no choise but to live in the 'castle' prepared by Nam Soo Ri, his servant.

That diving blessing from the earlier caps? Well, here they are. The recipients are not exclusively girls, LOL!
As a god who's destined to be the king in god's realm, you can guess that his character will be obnoxious and arrogant, after all people aka minor gods and other gods under him bow down to him, so naturally humans should bow to him as well, right?

One of the reasons why I like TVN dramas, look at the pretty scenes below, goodness me, the color!!!

Pretty background worthy for wallpaper.

The true OTP from episode 1 & 2 is Habaek x Fried chicken! He practically hold that piece of fried chicken throughout the last bits of episode 2. With stomach growling (does this mean that his power as a water god disappearing? Or it's the effect of him being in human realm?) but insisting that he kept that piece of chicken for Nam Soo Ri.

Once pretty, will always be pretty. Drenched with water, but still have that perfect hair... only in drama!

I gotta say Nam Joo Hyuk's acting improves since harem drama, still need more improvement, but I don't feel that wary anymore of him delivering Habaek's character after these 2 episodes. Still wish LJK to be Habaek, but I'll take this. Now, can you imagine how smelly that piece of suit by now, after how many days not being washed and drenched with Han river's water? Oh, maybe gods just don't have body odor? LOL.

The ending cut of Episode 1 & 2, in order, pretty right? As expected.

All along, I'm talking about Habaek, what about So Ah, the girl? Well, obviously I have no complains or even worries. So Ah is a little bit odd ball. She dislike showing kindness, but she secretly does it, and only people who pay attention will notice these (off course both male leads will notice, ha!). She made enemies left and right due to her oddness, and they'll come to haunt her later. Her life is no sunshine with daddy left the family for an odd reason, her clinic practice struggling, plus tons of debts and rents to pay, on top of that, now she has to house a water god (who like to have a bath in the open aka her roof top, mind you) and his servant because apparently she's a god servant too.
So obviously very different from the manhwa, as a stand alone drama, I still enjoy watching this, even after tons of new characters appears and new mysteries are added.
