French Toast from Arashi ni Shiyagare Episode 88 - 2011.12.17

I'm feeling for a French Toast, and what kind of French Toast I should whip up for none other than the version that dear Aiba-chan did on the Unknown Encounter segment, LOL... It's simple, cheap to make (especially if you already have jam in your fridge), and the most important, it's rich, filling and melt in your mouth! And wouldn't it excite you especially seeing this sunshine boy hyped up over a French Toast?

The recipe in the show didn't really specify the measurement, but since I measure almost everything that I'm going to whip up, I add them up.

What you need:
1 Baguette - cut diagonally with about 3cm thick, 1 Baguette can make about 4-5 servings
For custard bath:
250 gr milk
2 no egg
20 gr sugar
Butter for frying
For sauce:
50 gr strawberry jam
2 tbsp Balsamic vinegar (use the regular tablespoon, not the measuring spoon)
8-10 piece of mint leaves, chopped

How to:
1. Whisk custard bath ingredients until well mixed on a rectangular shaped container. This is easier for you to later dip the baguette.
2. When you dip the baguette pieces, press the side so that the liquid penetrate the whole piece quickly. But, don't leave it for too long, or it'll get soggy.
3. If your pan is a tefal based one, then you don't need butter to pan fried the french toast under low to medium fire. But using butter will add to the richness though, so it's your choice. Remember, control your fire, else your french toast will be burnt, fast.
4. Make the sauce by mixing all the sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
5. Assemble: place the French toast whenever you like in your plate, glaze them with the sauce, and dig in!

You've seen the episode and LOL (well, I did, and I still LOL too when I make these screencaps, and as a result, I make a little too many, but who can't resist?? LOL)

The Unknown Encounter segment starts with Aiba-chan meeting the chef...

 Just like any other beginning of this segment, the intro is awkward...

And, yeah, he gobbles the whole piece at 1 go... ... ... there's no need for knife!

 And the test starts! So cheery and confident, as expected of Arashi LOL LOL










 It starts of well, but chef is a bit worried because the fire is too strong, and you know what'll happen next LOL










 Chef's worry came to realization LOL LOL 











 Start to panic and you know what's wrong if you see that kind of smoke in your kitchen... me: LOL LOL, dying...










 But, fear not, Aiba-chan won't disappoint you with more fail coming up LOL LOL

But, who will be eating this fail creation? It's none other than....

 LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL, enough said, LOL LOL LOL
 It just have to be him LOL LOL...










 What do you know, Sho-chan likes French Toast, a plus point...











 Serving it with confidence to the unsuspecting victim...











 But wait, Shochan already suspicious with the food hahahaha...






















Guilty face starts to slip in while asking Sho-chan to eat it, poor Sho-chan... for our entertainment hahaha...


He knows what he eats... and deliberate 'should I or shouldn't I tell the truth', and in the end how can Sho-chan break Aiba-chan's heart LOL LOL, it's umai off course hahahaha...

 Priceless reaction hahahahaha... but wait, it's not over yet...

The effect of eating something bad starts to kick in LOL

 Wait, it's not over yet, they bring in the French Toast to the show :d :d











 Nino is quick to request that he's OK without the sauce LOL LOL, that brat...










 And Aiba-chan still have the cheek to ask the members how sour you'd  like the sauce, LOL LOL...










 Sho-chan's question... does Aiba-chan remember it's a pinchful or a handful? LOL LOL and this time the boy does it correctly because this is what we see next...





















And when Aiba-chan asked Sho-chan to tell the truth on how different this is compare to the one he ate earlier...

OMG Thank you so much dear!!
I was searching for this episode recipe cause I love how they teach Aiba-chan step by step and in this case, me. So I was looking all over my Arashi videos and fast forwarding them one by one and giving up by going tgo youtube but no key words get them out, finally I opted for google and tadaahh your lj come out as the second.

How's the french toast? I find this recipe is very good and it's one of those simple but yummy treat that you can do to impress people ;).

It's good. I forgot to take a pic. I need to make a lot of replacement cause the milk had ran out and I replace the bread into a normal bread loaf cut into a triangle sandwhich like. To replace milk I use carrot juice.
Surprisingly it was good! I'm quite proud actually! It smells sweet and the bit of sugar sprinkling made the toast even better!
