I've been delaying to do this episode because to me this one is the most difficult one. Besides having lots of words that I have to look up on the dictionary, Sho-chan's talking so fast in news caster mode is not helping at all. But since, this is the last episode of the year (Nino's and Ohno's will be next year? WHYYYY???), then better clear this one ecause there's another stack of things that I want to write as well haha...
I love Johnny's plus documentary in general, but especially Arashi's. Why? Simple, because it's fun to watch and most of the time, it's easier to understand and definitely boring is out of the window. And with Arashi, the fun doubles because you get to see them interacting with general public which they're very good at.

See, O-chan approves of this show! And we'll have fun tonight too :)

Topic of the day, Forest. Do you know that 66% of Japan's land are forests? I didn't know until I watch this. Then Nino had the cheek to ask what is forest LOL. Sho: It's where there're lots of trees, right? hahaha...
oday's documentary is focusing on Kouchi-ken Umajimura town. Though the area has the image of beaches due to the shape and location, its forest area ratio is the largest in Japan by 84%.

So, Sho-chan arrived at Umajimura town and it's raining. Never forget to promote Arashi at any condition with a straight face and confidence LOL...

Feel the need to cap all these because it's a documentary with LOTS of beautiful scenes, and this is just the beginning... more to come.
Umajimura's area is 96% of forest, yeah, it's that green folks... beautiful...

So, basically the first topic starts with the forest railroad, and the rail road was created from 1 century ago.

That's the train which used for transporting the woods. Then there's the talk of the job of the machinist and the person who's in charge of the brake on the back of the train. They need this person in order for the train to be able to stop. It's a dangerous job because you need to keep your balance on standing on top of the timbers.

Now let's get to the fun part because boys + train = self explanatory. Just look at Ohmiya's faces, both of them express a very curious face.

And, off course Sho-chan has to ask: Can I drive it? and you already got the answer when he put on that hat LOL. Kakkoii-desu LOL...

That dorky face is so happy like a kid when he turned on the machine and start driving... please never change...
Boys + train = dream come true for the boy doing the documentary and basically this is the face of the rest of the boys who didn't get to drive the train... 'Ii naaaaa...' LOL...

And after the VTR is over, Nino: I didn't see forest but we know that the operator (the one riding on the back of the train) is famous. There's a long talk about how the machinist is popular but the operator is also popular (#2) haha...

Quiz time! Reason for not to run an old train is: 1. the noise 2. the railway can't hold the train's weight 3. Inoue-san's treasure

Balance choices: 2,3,2,3. and that's the reward, wooden ticket, handmade by Inoue-san.

Well, the winners are quite obvious LOL... The explanation for this is very long and too many kanjis and Sho-chan talks so fast LOL, so I skip haha...

This company's job sort is to 'protect the forest' in Umajimura. Protecting the forest means that keeping the forest healthy by cutting the trees. They don't just cut trees recklessly. They choose which trees to cut. The objective is that due to the forestation, lots of trees are growing and they're crowding together hence preventing the sun light to enter the forest and it leads to the other trees not be able to grow.

Capping this because... beautiful! I just like these type of forest timber scenery. They're so cooling.

The guy is telling Sho-chan how to cut trees and Sho-chan is following the instruction and soon we'll see that Sho-chan is not good at doing manual labor LOL.

Work harder and work more while let a complain 'kitssuii' (it's hard!) and finally that 1 tree falls down LOL...
The dorky face of accomplishment from cutting ONE tree (that with lots of help from professional) LOL...
So, we've come to the cool part of this episode. What do they do with those timber? They use it to make bags!!! And not just some cheapo bags. You see the design? It's nicely done and very slick and classy too. How do they make the case, though?

Cool, eh?

From these blocks of timber, they use the cool machine to slice them thinly, something like the way those sushi chefs slicing daikon.

See how thin the slice is? It's like paper, according to Sho. Then they use the mold to press those thin wood slices and it become...

the casing! Janngggg!

The dorky Sho-chan must bring up the topic on the cutting the trees. Off course, the members are impressed with Sho-chan be able to cut the tree (they forget about the helpers LOL). Aiba-chan: I definitely cannot do that. Oh-chan: How's ur feeling when you push the tree?
Sho-chan's feels when the tree's falling down:'Upyopyopyopyo...' LOL... stay dorky forever please...

Off course, the bags are in the studio for the members to touch and feel. You can see Jun is very interested in it. He must be thinking: I also wan!!! Look at his eyes hahaha...
Aiba-chan made a comment that according to Sho-chan it deserves a repeat.
His comment: 'Ii SPIRAL' (good spiral?), oh the Engrish hahaha.... please stay gold Aiba-chan... haha...

Aiba-chan keep holding on the bag that Jun has to remind him that he cannot take it home. Aiba-chan: this is not Sho-chan's omiyage? LOL!!!!! And Oh-chan also keeps on holding on the ladies' handbag. I think he has a thing with small sized bags... LOL (check out Iza, Now! concert MC, and you know what I mean)

Jun finds what's going to be the next topic inside the small bag, Yuzu.

The families in Umajimura started to grow Yuzu after the forestry settlement in Edo era, and look how many yuzu products it has.

Sho-chan is asking the lady where can he find a famous Yuzu cooking. The lady told him that he should look for Inuichi Chie-san.

Again, beautiful scenery...

Look at the food!!!!! Looks so delicious!!! Sho-chan is in for a treat! And Jun agrees!

Sho-chan + food = never gets old! Work out those chipmunk cheeks!

Keep on eating! I should have capped Jun's 'i also wan' face, well, at least i capped Aiba-chan's LOL...

This family has 4 generations living under the same roof! And the grandpa turns out to be remember? The person who rides on the back of the train! Sho-chan demonstrate the knowledge that he gained earlier and told the family that the operator is also famous. The family: never heard of it! LOL hahaha... Also, the younger generation are staying in the town, not moving out because they're doing it for the future generation so that they have a place to go home to in the future. A nice way of thinking...

Off course, you see the food and you know what come next! Nino's MO in action: Just now only see those looks good but I don't know whether it's really good. When the TV says that it's good, is it really good?
Sho-chan: Wakarimashita! We're bringing the grandma's handmade sushi to the studio! To much of the members surprise and delight! Lucky dorks!

The butler is serving the sushi and gives introduction to the member.

Look at the member's happy expression. Jun looks so pleased and Aiba-chan keep on munching that his comment is unrecognizable LOL...

Aiba-chan approved! It's refreshing and demands an encore!

Sho-chan further explains that when he ate it there, the miso soup has wild boar meat in it. Freshly caught.

The next item is a spike boots. These boots are used for forest work.

It's 8am in the morning and Sho-chan is not whining like what he did in HnA! hehehe... off course, this is documentary...
He shows in the complete outfit, including the boots! Bacchiri!

With the helmet, he's ready for work! And grandma is so kind that she made Sho-chan matsutake gohan bentou for him! Grandma loves Sho-chan!

Again, beautiful scenery!

So they need to go deeper in the woods to cut the trees and it's on foot. Sho-chan is trying hard to keep up, can see that he's going to be out of breath soon LOL, oh Sho-chan, then how do you cope with the concerts?

So they're cutting this tree, again, by hand. But at least they use the small electric saw this time so the tree is down in no time.
But how they take the timber out from the woods?

This is the cool part, they tie the timber to the wire and it's lifted and moved by wire to the ground. Cool eh?

They can move about 20-25 timbers a day. Sho-chan is more impressed with the wire and it looks like what they use in concerts LOL...

Lunch time!!! Time for Matsutake gohan! yummy!!!

Sho-chan wonders if they usually have lunch like this, the answer is no. They usually just had lunch on the spot where they cut the trees and when it rains, they'd eat by covering their bentou.

It's quite clear that these people are passionate about their job. It's a tough job, but they're doing it passionately because they want to see the future with the forest that they have now.
And the next episode is in March! Man that's sooo long!!!

Nino can't wait to do his episode. He feels that he'll become a good person by doing this LOL hahahaha....
I love Johnny's plus documentary in general, but especially Arashi's. Why?
