Last Hope at Seventh Episode

If seven is a lucky number, Last Hope 7th episode bounced back to be interesting, to me at least. I think the low rating for this episode is contributed from the 6th episode, not because this episode is boring. More revelation of those confusing entangled relationships, clearer yet shaddy past of our pretty doctor, etc etc... I'm very curious of what's in it for Soejima sensei to join this medical center? I find that he's the most mysterious character out of the team... and in this episode we'll find Komaki sensei creepy side... though I'm sure many of you have guessed it...
Episode 7 is about blood... it's interesting that somehow all the cases that this medical center handles will bounce back to those entangled relationships and messy pasts...

So, we started from what we're left off from Epi 6 and oh, the brother collapsed... Hatano sensei tried to help and was requested to bring him to the hospital (specific one)...

And the brother got admitted to the hospital again...

Then Hatano sensei laid out his concerns, why he's approaching this fellow... (an ikemen too, who's this boy? anybody know him?). In short, Hatano sensei was telling him all the gaps in his flashbacks, the zoo incident (Hatano sensei really has a very sharp memory eh?), how he found out that Sato Keiji and his dad were actually related as classmates, but daddy denied the relationship. And his mission is to find out the truth. So Hatano sensei tried to squeesh any related memory possible from this just admitted to hospital poor fellow.

I love how Hatano sensei forced Ogiwara sensei to help him seeing his patient... with bribing her the salted daifuku (this one) knowing that she doesn't like sweet stuffs and Hatano sensei tried to appeal to her that it's not so sweet and her whining over her horse race choices LOL... and he just threw her into his cubicle, just like that LOL... and can anybody tell me which scene show the daifuku? I couldn't find it!

Patient of the day is Kyouko-chan, Ogiwara sensei's patient from 5 years ago. She's aspired to be a pastry chef, but the aspiration is gone because now she has acute myeloid leukemia (affecting her bone marrow) and she only has 6 months to go.
The pretty is back! If this is the concern face... oh well... enjoy the pretty! I still love the pretty doctor LOL

The kind Tae-san from Episode 4 is back, still hard working though on hospital bed, her stress built up as the work done by her staffs were not up to her standard, and Takagi sensei quickly stopped her from working...
Preliminary discussion... What the patient has is Myelodysplastic syndrome (thank you Google!!! do you know they establish the glossary page for Last Hope? But the stupid thing is that it's not html base, so we cannot copy paste grrrr). They were discussing the possible treatment and considering the fact that it's hitting her bone marrow... They're mentioning hematopoietic stem cell then that normal human will have half of the amount. Also, they concern if the bleeding will be difficult to stop. To be able to live, she needs to do blood transfusion on red blood cells and thrombocytes every forthnightly. She needs a donor to prolong her life.
OMG all the big words... I spent about 30 minutes try to figure out what they're talking about in this scene and I don't think it even came out to half of what it's supposed to be... I can imagine the amount of readings that Aiba-chan had to do for this drama... I can't even understand what those wiki are telling me just by one time reading! The staffs really shouldn't be complaining much because Aiba-chan has tons of other things to do besides this drama, no? He had to do promotions, photoshoots, interviews, radio, his TSD, VSA, lately no Aiba-chan on HnA and probably due to this drama, rehearsal for M-station, etc... he's not human!

In the lab, the researchers were excited with the results and Soejima sensei was saying that whether they're going to do the press release soon... but Komaki sensei said to delay the press release and to redo the experiment one more time so that his research will be completed. The announcement will be 2 months later. Eh? Komaki sensei... what research you're doing? Fishy!!!!

And what Soejima sensei had in his head? hmmm....

So, they're suggesting umbilical cord transplant... (eh??? Does this look familiar? Recall Epi 4! I bet Komaki sensei will be interested in this case!). Then I think they're explaining the procedure etc... and according to the bank (the blood bank), with her leukocyte, and her HLA, there's no perfect match. But, it doesn't mean it's the end of the world, the transplant still can be done with the not 100% match (something like that). They found a match for 90%.

But the patient herself already lost hope. 90% doesn't mean she'll recover and she's traumatized with her friend's, Misa-chan, case.
Off course, there'll be risks. I guess, the patient is tired with fortnightly the blood transfusions. She kept on ganbaru to do those blood transfusion because of her aspiration to be pastry chef. But she cannot even do normal stuff and in the end she got hit by the current illness and she just keeps on telling them that she's going to die anyway. This time, Ogiwara sensei has the last hope line, but still, assuring face belongs to pretty doctor...
I don't even know whether I'm correct or not anymore LOL, wait for the subs yeah!!!! Trying my best here hahaha...

Confrontation!!! This is the continuation from Epi 5... father and son's scene... Takumi started by telling his dad that he kept having the same flashbacks of his childhood, the hospital, the couple, everything. Dad still denying saying that maybe he's traumatized over something scary. Then, Takumi went on about Saito Kenji... dad still acted blur but then, tried to dodge by saying that he's the doctor in charge for Saito's son.

This confrontation doesn't work that well for Aiba-chan. His facial expression is not really natural here. I want to know how many NG he has for this scene. He tried too hard, but may this be a lesson learnt for the sunshine boy.
Back to the scene, Takumi wants to know what his memory means but dad didn't want to spill... so Takumi calmed down (Aiba-chan did well for this moment though) went to his last resort.

The DNA test sheet. Whose child is he?

Dad started to spill the beans, but I bet not all. No matter what, Takumi is still his child. He can memorize all Takumi's moment of life, First time he called him daddy, etc etc. Can Takumi believe him? Daddy said off course! Takumi is his son! I can sensed sadness in Takumi's voice (the slight tremble)
OK I think I'm just blindly fangirling over this pretty doctor (who're with me? Put you hands up? Yeah yeah yeah)
Takumi didn't look convinced though.

Official conference. Exactly same sitting position. It's been bothering me... those fancy presentation... who make those? These doctors cannot be the one doing these fancy presentation while doing researches, reading materials, attending patients, operating on patients, doing rounds, etc, those presentations TAKE TIME! Too fancy! LOL, OK, by now let's just wait for subs yes? the amount of words is too much to handle for me LOL... but basically they're trying to come up with the treatment for Kyouko, the possibilities and complications, etc...

Patient's pessimism... I can totally understand because the treatment is harsh, and possibility for failure still exists...
She has really lost hope and whining that nobody understand her feeling, everyday persevere but at the end still have the illness...
I missed out the cap but there's a flash of Hatano sensei not happy with patient's reaction and his head is already thinking of some plan...

And this is his plan...

Tae-san is a really nice person...

Face down between 2 patients... Hatano sensei is trying to persuade Kyouko-chan on the starting note, but were shut down by the patient.

Kyouko-chan got a harsh scolding from Tae-san because Tae-san has lots of things that she wants to do, she wants to live and not giving up. And it hit right on the mark to the bitter Kyouko. Tae-san is scared of dying more than to strive to live.

I like how the pretty doctor leaning on the wall there... kakkoii LOL
Hatano sensei didn't play fair ne, his underlying message to Kyouko-chan is that hey, you're not alone, don't be a brat! *implicit*

Pretty doctor face changed like that only when he's with...

Yep, the most suspicious character in this whole drama... the conversation with the head section is never ever hit right on the spot, Hatano sensei is always using vague analogy etc...

and she's back to Tae's room. Apparently after the word with Hatano sensei, Kyouko-chan got to think. And now with no other people around, she gets to hear more of Tae-san's thoughts. How starting note impacts her perception to move forward.

A nicer note because it's from a lady to a lady haaa...
The will to live is very important!
And it went well as per Hatano sensei's scenario! Pretty doctor is manipulating patient's emotion! Scary!

And she started her starting note! First time in this episode that she smiles!

So, treatment for Kyouko-chan has started. Oh, that cell picture is for Tae-san... OK, wait for subs... I need to sleep soon...
The center is banking on the regenerating treatment for Tae-san and Kyouko-chan.

So Komaki sensei met Saito Kenji before? Ohhhh....

Oh Komaki sensei, what are you doing? Cloning back your own son? Fishy, creepy!!!
Apparently Tae-san promised Kyouko-chan to design her future bakery. Happy moments don't last long in drama... especially when it's not the last episode!

OH NO!!!! and worse... Kyouko-chan is there!!!

OK, so the brother's memory was that he almost killed her mother and the one helping him was Hatano sensei? And the brother has benign anemia (can't make out the rest of the words) and only has 1 more year to live.

Emergency!!!!

NOOOOO!!! Hatano sensei rush to the rescue!!! Panic!!!

This must traumatized Kyouko-chan. I feel sorry for her. Hatano sensei, you better revive her!

This is too real!!! Creep factor goes up!!!
OK, medical drama is really difficult without subs ne! All the more you have to appreciate those subbers! I'm not confident at all with my interpretation, could be wrong, or worse, way wrong haaa... but let's just enjoy the pretties until the subs are released!

Date: 2013-03-12 03:26 pm (UTC)So ... Komaki what he is doing ... many today in the field of biogenetic and molecular engineering debate the ethics of cloning. It's all well and good to look for the cures for cancers ... cloning organs and cells... but the rest ... huge debate goes on today. A Perfect World has its own problems too. ^_^
I hope that somewhat helps with the cord blood question.

Date: 2013-03-12 04:10 pm (UTC)i was freaking out when they happily took the blood from umbilical cord but off course the main reason is because it's Komaki sensei LOL, too fishy...
Yeah, this cloning thing is borderline... they have 2 sides, good and bad... if you like this kind of topic, you should watch Bunshin (2011), it's about cloning too and it's short (6 episodes only) ;)
