Last Hope at FINAL Episode

It's the finale! Last episode of our pretty and cute doctor! A bit sad that it finally reach to the ends, but a drama must have an ending anyway... and we'll look forward to the next Aiba-chan drama haaaa....

So, I think lots of spoilers are out already by now. I only manage to do this today because of my work *sobs*...

So many things that the drama team put for an 1 hour final episode. We have lots of switching between current scenes and flashbacks. If you're not following 1 episode of this drama, I think you'll be lost... hence the rating... At the same time, so many feels I had when I watched this... ranging from anger, frustration, urge to smack pretty doctor's head, heart broken, sadness, anxious... all jumbled up. I really sympathize our pretty doctor but at the same time wonder how twisted his brain can go, and admire and flail over his prettiness. That's why, so many feels...

The drama is similar to Jodi Picoult's 'My sister's keeper,' in theme but with a totally different ending. I never read the book or watch the movie because I think it's not good for my heart. Hollywood makes the theme heartwarming and sort of happy ending, but when the same theme goes to Asia... J-drama twists it to become a medical suspense entertainment. I still need the subs though because I still don't get the relation between cute doctor and pretty doctor.

TONS of caps away because it's the FINALE, and we may not have any SP or what not because of the rating, though I still HOPE there'll be one because... come on... what kind of ending was that!!! The center is a LAST HOPE center who bring hope for the patient but NOT sacrificing the donor... T__T please let me be wrong...

vlcsnap-01108Bonus cap because it's pretty doctor's last episode and we may not see the same hairstyle again for Aiba-chan...

vlcsnap-01109vlcsnap-01110
So, now we've reached where the flashbacks/past is just minutes away from the current scenes.
By this time, pretty doctor already have the chat with his dad, so that's why this scene become more T__T to me.
Takeru is still hesitant in receiving treatment because it means he'll be asking help to pretty doctor, which has nothing to do with him. But pretty doctor is telling him that that's why he's here for. The only way to help Takeru is Takumi to be the donor. It doesn't have to do with the reason why he was born... what does this mean??? You're gonna die just so that Takeru lives? T__T

vlcsnap-01111vlcsnap-01112
In the midst of emergency, pretty doctor remains... pretty...

vlcsnap-01113vlcsnap-01114
Head Center Naruse's job in this episode is mostly sleeping on the table. On the stretcher, Naruse asked pretty doctor to make the transplantation successful because only Takumi can settle this.

vlcsnap-01115vlcsnap-01116
There's not much going on for this scene. Takagi-sensei's friend is just giving out excuses for him not stepping out to help Ogiwara-sensei's mom, but in the end it's just because he didn't have the courage that time... Sort of anti-climax for Ogiwara-sensei, she didn't really expect this outcome... When Ogiwara-sensei decided to be a doctor, she didn't to be a doctor like the one who abandon her mother. So she worked hard, persevere to save patients, and she doesn't know whether what she's doing is right. But in the end her being a doctor now is thanks to him...

vlcsnap-01117There's nothing good coming up when Machine is calling you...

vlcsnap-01118vlcsnap-01119
and, true enough... Naruse has brain tumor internal bleeding, the bleeding comes from the place where the tumor resides (damn). Pretty & cute doctor has done what they can to save Naruse since he fell. They cannot operate on Naruse yet because he has bad edema and cerebral contusion. They depend on whether Naruse will regain consciousnesses within 48 hours.
Side note, Pretty doctor wearing mask is... sigh...

vlcsnap-01121vlcsnap-01122
more pretty caps...
Pretty doctor is determined they need to operate on president daddy despite the current situation and he's going to persuade the president daddy... why is he so determined?

vlcsnap-01123vlcsnap-01124
Here we go... the truth... really, it's really sad...
Saito Takeru already had aplastic anemia when he's born. He wouldn't live without bone marrow transplant. But they couldn't find a donor. If it's from the brother, HLA match is 4:1. When Takumi was 1 year old, they did the bone marrow transplant. But at that time Takeru's internal organ already has serious challenge, and now they had to do kidney transplant ...

vlcsnap-01125vlcsnap-01126
and they did that when Takumi was 2.5 years old ... me: Oh God! This is even crueler than My sister's keeper... T__T

vlcsnap-01129vlcsnap-01130
Pretty doctor got clouded with his own emotion in this scene. He's insisting why daddy not wanting to do the transplant when both sons already supported him and volunteering to hurt their own body and it's the only way to survive. Doesn't he want to live?
Me: Pretty doctor... you're crazy... seriously... I cannot agree with you in this matter... and what's with the conviction of 'it's the only way'

vlcsnap-01131vlcsnap-01132
He's insisting that is it that bad to accept his son's organs? Is it because if he does the operation, he won't be the perfect human anymore?
I can understand how Takumi feels on the family thingy, he's been so attached to the family concept since the beginning, but to force patient on his opinion? Only in drama!!! I still think this transplant operation is so so so risky...

vlcsnap-01133vlcsnap-01134
As much as this scene supposed to be moving... my head still boggles with the fact that it's a very risky operation... what happen if daddy body rejects the lungs? Then those 2 organs got thrown away? Gah...

vlcsnap-01135vlcsnap-01136
Bonus caps...

vlcsnap-01137vlcsnap-01138

vlcsnap-01139
The final Last hope line belongs to main lead...

vlcsnap-01142vlcsnap-01143
And now to convince big boss that they want to do operation... they even bring help from other department...

vlcsnap-01145vlcsnap-01146

vlcsnap-01147vlcsnap-01148
Pretty doctor... I don't really like you now, you know... But you're still damn pretty...

vlcsnap-01150vlcsnap-01151
Closure for Tachibana sensei...

vlcsnap-01153vlcsnap-01154
What happened 10 years ago? This crazy Kirino was going to fuse human and mouse and breed a new life form by using chimera? It'll be the first splendid achievement in the world because this could break through cancer cell multiplication mechanism solution and all this thanks to Kiko's (now Tachibana-sensei) cells. and daddy tried to stop this Kirino and that accident happened...

vlcsnap-01155vlcsnap-01156
So, why daddy didn't tell the truth that time? Daddy intended to burry the research and therefore not telling the truth so that the research not being exposed?

vlcsnap-01157vlcsnap-01158
And because of that Aitani family broke down and Mommy committed suicide? Dad, that's rather cruel you know? and I bet Tachibana-sensei was very heart broken or rather disappointed...

vlcsnap-01159vlcsnap-01160
That's why she hates researcher. Aitani Kiko does not exist anymore... and the last word to daddy... 'Don't run away anymore'

vlcsnap-01161vlcsnap-01162
This will be the last time Tachibana-sensei meets her dad...

vlcsnap-01163vlcsnap-01164
Lung transplant operation commences...

vlcsnap-01165vlcsnap-01166
Oh God, it must be very painful (mentally) to operate a 2.5 years old kid who didn't know anything that he'll only going to live with 1 kidney...

vlcsnap-01167Hatano daddy... I feel you!!!

vlcsnap-01168vlcsnap-01169
Treatment for Naruse also starts...

vlcsnap-01170vlcsnap-01172
TOO REAL!!!! It's just too real!!!

vlcsnap-01174vlcsnap-01175
Takeru's parents as researcher made a false step and Takeru couldn't forgive them. But to Hatano sensei, it's the only way to help Takeru.

vlcsnap-01177vlcsnap-01178
Gah.. 1 lung, and 1 more to go...

vlcsnap-01179vlcsnap-01180
Oh God!!! such a tiny little kidney... T__T

vlcsnap-01181vlcsnap-01183
Takumiiii.... T__T... Hatano sensei loves Takumi as his son...

vlcsnap-01184vlcsnap-01186
Another lung to be cut... Is this how organ transplant is done? Looks very real...

vlcsnap-01187vlcsnap-01188
They even do it in double frame to make it even more real because it's done simultaneously...

vlcsnap-01190vlcsnap-01191
Taking out lungs is done... perfectly...

vlcsnap-01192vlcsnap-01193
Uh Oh!!! Medical suspense entertainment!!! Naruse is having seizures! Team has to work on both sides...

vlcsnap-01195vlcsnap-01196
Then how Takumi ended up with Hatano household? So, basically Takumi is literally made to be Takeru's donor by using vitro fertilization and even go to gene manipulation and as a result, a donor baby, the first in the world. After the body is used, Saito couple plan to abandon him?

vlcsnap-01197vlcsnap-01198
Aiba-chan, you need to learn to have more expression for every 2 seconds because... there are people like me taking caps and it's shown here... changing expression too slow. I never get this when capping Tabe Mikako, oh well, ganbare Aiba-chan! I still love you (fangirl's love can conquer anything wahahaha...)

vlcsnap-01199vlcsnap-01203
Ganbare!

vlcsnap-01204vlcsnap-01205
Ganbare Aiba-chan! Tears will come down! And prettily come down!

vlcsnap-01206Regardless, it's still the saddest back in this drama... T__T

vlcsnap-01207vlcsnap-01208
Medical suspense entertainment! Finale!
The operation is perfect, but something wrong, the blood is not flowing. The pulmonary vein is twisted.

vlcsnap-01209Pretty, regardless!

vlcsnap-01210vlcsnap-01211
Last spurt!

vlcsnap-01212Pretty in close up!

vlcsnap-01214vlcsnap-01215
Tachibana-sensei is really kakkoii on operating room.

vlcsnap-01216Pretty side eyes..

vlcsnap-01217Fortunately they're not showing the other side of operation room because I don't think I can take the drilling and sawing of the skull after all the lung zoom in scenes and more lungs to go because the transplant operation not done yet!

vlcsnap-01218vlcsnap-01220
And finally it works, blood flows into the lungs... this is just... TOO REAL...

vlcsnap-01221The relief!

vlcsnap-01222vlcsnap-01223
The first person you see when you wake up from your critical condition? Prettiness!

vlcsnap-01224vlcsnap-01225
Both operations are successfully done. As expected of Naruse's dream team.

vlcsnap-01226This is what Aiba-chan really good at... he smiles with his eyes!
Look at those eyes, they're so bright! We don't need him to take off the mask to see the smile!

vlcsnap-01227vlcsnap-01228
In drama world, it has to be happy ending. I'm fine with it despite the drama being a bit unrealistic for me on this. But can the donors walk around like that after 2 days from one of their lungs removed operation? The president daddy is still on his bed, so... why they're not...

vlcsnap-01229vlcsnap-01230
Now they're going to be a 'normal' family.

vlcsnap-01231vlcsnap-01232
President daddy will play with his grandson with the touched son...

vlcsnap-01233Pretty doctor is satisfied with the outcome...

vlcsnap-01234vlcsnap-01238
Hey Takagi & Ogiwara... you should become a couple no? Your personalities match *I think*. Takagi, you better try harder to pick up Ogiwara, she's not really your level LOL

vlcsnap-01239vlcsnap-01240
Rejected again... Ganbare Takagi! Never give up!!!

vlcsnap-01242vlcsnap-01243
Final offer...

vlcsnap-01244vlcsnap-01245
Ara ara Soejima sensei, what are you planning?

vlcsnap-01246Tachibana sensei subtle attempt to getting sense into Komaki sensei's head.
If Komaki sensei insisted, will the result is the same Satoshi?

vlcsnap-01247vlcsnap-01248
And we have the result already, it's not. Takumi is not Takeru...

vlcsnap-01249vlcsnap-01250
Prety doctor, what are you doing!!!! T__T

vlcsnap-01253vlcsnap-01255
Back to the past, the happy times...

vlcsnap-01256vlcsnap-01257
Ah, they've met before!!!!

vlcsnap-01258vlcsnap-01259

vlcsnap-01260vlcsnap-01261
This is bittersweet, nostalgic for Takagi sensei...

vlcsnap-01264vlcsnap-01266
When he smiles like this... it's the best! *flail*

vlcsnap-01267vlcsnap-01268
Naruse sensei kept on asking himself whether what he did on Takumi's transplant is right, but he can't find the answer until now. What he did may be something cannot be forgiven.
Takumi is saying that to find the answer, just look at the patient's eyes, maybe he'll find the answer there.

vlcsnap-01269vlcsnap-01271
Isn't he the cutest? *pinch pinch*

vlcsnap-01273vlcsnap-01274
So pretty doctor is going back to the clinic? He'll go back to have drinks with daddy. He's still going to stay in this center though.

vlcsnap-01275vlcsnap-01278
Moshikashite? hahaha... Tachiana sensei is lonely without pretty doctor? D'awww...

vlcsnap-01279vlcsnap-01280
Oh that face! He's too happy to notice that cute doctor do actually smiles! Which off course was quickly brushed off LOL...

vlcsnap-01282vlcsnap-01283
And while still teasing cute doctor, pretty doctor walked in to a hoo-haa on the conference room...

vlcsnap-01285vlcsnap-01287
So, our Soejima literally snatched Komaki-sensei's research results. But what's Komaki-sensei's thought?

vlcsnap-01288vlcsnap-01289
Interestingly those who made noise are not the victims because if the research stays in Japan, it'll take 10 years to be approved (or something like that), while it's only 5 years abroad. So, Komaki-sensei.. couldn't care less.

vlcsnap-01290If looks can kill hahaha...

vlcsnap-01291vlcsnap-01293
This scene is funny. Komaki sensei is lecturing our clumsy but cute nurse by pointing the squeeky white mouse haha...

vlcsnap-01294vlcsnap-01295
So, after the Seojima resign hoo-haa, it's time for conference...

vlcsnap-01296Last desert! Orange Yogurt Jelly! The drama commissioned this baking school for the desserts (maybe not all, but most of it) and this jelly is one of the most interesting one when I scan through on how they're making this. I'm still curious over the doughnut... I want the recipe for this one!!!

vlcsnap-01298vlcsnap-01299
Last patient...

vlcsnap-01300vlcsnap-01301
T__T why Takumi is on the stretcher again???? T__T

vlcsnap-01302vlcsnap-01303
What's he donating now??? I don't get it here...

vlcsnap-01305vlcsnap-01306
His smile breaks my heart. Especially when he keeps on saying, what he's doing is to help Takuya lives. T__T...
Takeru won't die, he'll surely be helped... BUT, what'll happen to you pretty doctor???

vlcsnap-01307vlcsnap-01310
Pretty pretty pretty, whether eyes closed or not...

vlcsnap-01312Eh? Tachibana sensei smiles? For what?

vlcsnap-01313vlcsnap-01314
Pretty but... but... but...

vlcsnap-01315That's it??? What'll happen to Takumi? That's what I wanna know... Don't tell me he's gone become a martyr for his 'brother.' I'm gonna butcher the drama team if that's what happen after I watch with subs...

THE END T__T

OK, maybe I'm hoping too much on drama team... but still????? T__T

It's still a good drama though, I had fun following, capping this drama! I hope after this, we'll see more improved and more mature image of Aiba-chan XD...

Next is Kazoku Game! But, I feel that this will be just an obligatory drama watching (unless the story is interesting like The Quiz Show 2). Not a fan of Sho-chan's drama to be honest, also I think Nazotoki is ridiculously over hyped. Even though, Sho-chan's acting is definitely better than Aiba-chan, but I find that lots of times it's too calculative, whereas Aiba-chan's just... try too hard LOL, w/o much of thoughts... But there are TONS of drama that I'm thinking to watch for Spring 2013, so many ikemens doing drama, so look forward to it!

[identity profile] addictedarashi.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you very much!
Aiba work hard on these months ^^
To act as a doctor, it's difficult.

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 09:19 am (UTC)(link)
You're welcome!
Yes, Aiba-chan in deed ganbare these past months!
I hope this drama becomes a good platform for him neee...

[identity profile] i-am-zan.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
eEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! I had to skip the caps ... I still haven't seen it yet ... hopefully it will be up at the comm soon or something ...

I hope the ending was good and satisfying.

Yeah I'm not crazy about Sho's dramas either ... although Quiz Show 2 was good and Nazotoki but not brilliant ... I enjoyed Yamada Tarou ( but Nino was in that too) ... I TRIED to give Tokujo Kabachi a chance but it just failed to grab my interest. Although his Doctor film (Kami Sama no Karute ?? not sure of title) was quite good. And I actually did enjoy that one where he played the Kindergarten teacher.

^__^ I'll watch your space for sure to look out for drama/ikemen recs!!! ^_^

Also for sure I'll have lots to say once I've watched the final ep too! SO definitely I'll come back here .... that's if you don't mind of course.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
;) do come back and lemme know what you think...
Lots of feels for this final episode hahaha...

Kamisama no Karute is good because the story is good and it's beautifully made too... I bought the book but u know.. it's been sitting in my shelf coz it's so hard to read (same like translating bits of Last Hope)
Yatterman... can't finish watching... same as Tokujo Kabachi... it's tiring to watch though my brother actually liked it haha...
You should try Yankee Bokou ni Kaeru SP, i like his acting there... more genuine...

I don't really fancy Sho-chan's image as a smarty... I find that it's tiring and often look like he thinks too much and that translate to his acting...

Sure, i'll make some caps again if I find something interesting, really lots of drama for Spring 2013... police drama... ikemen detectives... hmmmm.... LOL

Enjoy your weekend!

[identity profile] i-am-zan.livejournal.com 2013-04-11 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Still skipping the caps ... I just dl'd from the comm. But I cannot watch it till the weekend ... ;_;

If you ARE interested and do write to her ... just give her my name and tell her I mentioned it to you. Just so she knows.

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-11 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
haaaa take ur time!!! u have to savour the last epi coz... its tge last one haaaaa

will we get the dvd by then? i'm ok w the date, nvr go to screening before, i'll pm her today haaaaa, btw 's wherethe screening room haaaaa

[identity profile] i-am-zan.livejournal.com 2013-04-11 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
I think so. She was actually looking to screen the dvd on the day of release (how I'm not sure) ... but it's mid week. And middle of the week is busy and I won't be able to bring girl as she has school.

So I think most people opted for the Saturday.

The Screening Room is near Telok Belangah MRT. (about 3-5 mins walk)

It'd be cool if you can make it ... as we can all fangirl like crazy fangirls together (and you get to me my girl too!) ^_^

Ahhh see you then *crosses fingers* - gotta rush .... it's always crazier towards the end of the weekkkk aiiiyaaaa die leh!

*Waves*

[identity profile] i-am-zan.livejournal.com 2013-04-11 12:03 pm (UTC)(link)
And I'm so daft! ... I meant Tanjong Pagar MRT not Telok Belangah.

Sorry about that mistake!

and ... yeah Jane says just come along if you can, and bring friends too.

We're still at 17 and she really needs at least 25 folks to come along if it's to go ahead ... (otherwise it's too expensive to hire out the room) - We've had two concert screenings there already ... Arafes and Scene. And it really is quite wonderful when we have a whole bunch of peeps together.

I know for me ... it's fun because I'd never be able to go to a real con. So it's a good feeling, plus I get to bring my children too!

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-11 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL and I kept on thinking... huh? we have something like that near vivocity? LOL anyhoo, that means... it's near my office LOL

Yeah, it'll be fun coz the chance of going to Arashi con... zero to minus LOL

[identity profile] katzsong.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! You finally made the screencaps! :P
Deshou? I'm a bit mad with the screenwriters for making the twists like that. Like it doesn't make sense, cruel and kinda dehumanize people. My Sister's Keepers was a lot better, because the ending was more...wholesome. The patient may not survived but she's healed in a way, along with her family.
This...I hate the way Takumi's story ending. He may live though, because there's no way they can legally "kill" Takumi even though it's to save another live. But I personally still disagree in creating a "human" in order to harvest the organ. It's like that movie "The Island" with an island filled with clones to be "sacrificed" for their organs.
In short, I like the script/story, EXCEPT Takumi's finale, plus the lung transplants story.

I'm thinking Kazoku Game will be like...Kaseifu no Mita? But in this case is not a housekeeper, but a mysterious private tutor will be the one who's "fixing" the problem of the family, with his unorthodox ways. I've quite enjoyed Kaseifu no Mita, so I think I'll enjoy Kazoku Game.
Sho's acting is decent I guess. The problem is, I can see that he's acting. Sakurai Sho who's acting as a character, not "be" a character. The ones from Arashi who can "be" other characters are Nino and Ohno. Jun's a bit hit-and-miss sometimes. Aiba's the most awkward so far. But he improved a lot in Last Hope. I hope he can keep improving in his next dramas.

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah! Agree with you! The ending makes me grr....

For the lung transplant, they try to emphasize the family matter that why reject if your family want to help bla bla, but they forget the thoughts of a parent, I'd think only a cruel parent will ask of that from his sons... they should choose a slightly less risky case. Maybe they're bank in for people not knowing the real risk of the procedure etc as they don't really explain it either in the drama...

For Takumi's case... it's really pure cruelty of what Saito couple did. That's also the reason why their own son cannot forgive his deceased parents, even that having Takumi did save him.

The thing that bothers me the most is the way they use the phrase 'it's the only way' so that's why they do this and that... even to sacrifice other lives as well? I don't get this part, but it's leaving us a good topic for discussion XD.

Ah, Kaseifu no Mita... I only watched first few episodes and thought it's not for me... so probably that's why I'm not really into Kazoku Game haha... but I'll still watch it though, but may not be excited as watching other drama...

Yep, I hope Aiba-chan will be blessed with good written drama and not lazy drama team in the future after having Last Hope in his resume. In Arashi, yes, acting wise, Nino is best. Ohno follows but he too been blessed with good dramas (even uta no oniisan is well written), so I don't know if given not so well written, Ohno can perform. Jun... well, his characters are not much different from 1 drama to another, so... it's more like the characters are made for him. Sho-chan... think too much, that's all I can say. Aiba-chan just need to learn more facial expression and I think he'll be fine haaaa...

[identity profile] katzsong.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohno has long experience of performing/acting in butai (during his Kyoto era), so I think he got the acting skill from that. When he act, I can see him as the character, not as Ohno. But yeah, the luck factor also take a part. He's been blessed with good script/story so far, and I hope he will continues to have good dramas (I still want a Kagiheya SP or movie :3).
Sho is like Ayumi from Glass Mask. His act is based on careful calculation, not instinct. While Nino is like Maya from Glass Mask, because he got the natural talent. That's the way I see them :P
Now, I'm waiting for stormy to release the last eps sub, to get better understanding. They already release 8 and 9 together. I doubt I will change my mind about the ending though, but I still want to understand the whole situation better.
Feel like I should file/write a complain for Last Hope's scriptwriter. I strongly want to say that the last episode could (or definitely has) send the wrong message about "saving live".

edit:
yeah, I deleted the comment below this, coz I actually meant to reply. silly me :P

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for telling me Stormy already had Ep 8&9 out, I thought of checking it again next week coz just few hours ago I still didn't see them out haha... I doubt you'll change your mind haha... but maybe you'll get more sympathetic towards Takumi hehe... I want to understand Takumi better because in the final epi, he's very persistent and it's not really like him to let his emotion out in front of patient like that (well, he's passionate about saving patient but until that extend? hmmm...)
I'll join you if you want to write complain to the scriptwriter haha coz something really wrong the concept of the last episode...

At least Kagiheya should have an SP, Enomoto is too mysterious, and he's still alive not like Naruse hehe... the character itself deserves at least a past revealed or another new encounter with a new case in the future, or maybe a spin off...

Nice analogy! I love Glass Mask... the manga still not finished yet right? The last time I read is when Maya and Ayumi battling out on the Plum valley...

[identity profile] katzsong.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I doubt that Glass Mask will ever be finished :3 I love the series as well, and I hope Maya get the legendary role + get together with Masumi :p

I can sympathize with Takumi alright. But I also want to smack him in the head for thinking+doing THAT far to save a patient (and refuse other alternatives), then hug him tight and tell him that everything will be okay (and no, you're not MADE to save Takeru's life, you silly pretty doctor. That's not the sole purpose of your existence, baka).

I'm now seriously considering to write a complain...but I cannot write Japanese XDD even if I find an email add or something, idk what to do next. This is one of the times that I feel I should've studied Japanese way earlier :3

oh yeah, I've started to watch My Girl, Yoiko no Mikata, and Haikei Chichiue sama. Aiba's acting is still awkward but the story is heartwarming (the kid actress did a decent job imo), Yoiko's stroy is cute, though I think having Taiyo-sensei cries in almost every episode is kinda reaching. Haven't finish them all, just watching them here and there, plus re-watching some Poirot and Elementary (The US version of Sherlock). Yeah, my dose of drama therapy lol

OMG still not ended? hahaha... how many decades has it been? Maya deserves to be with Masumi after what she's gone through hehe..

I feel you on Takumi haha... lots of feelings right?
Really I want to smack him on his head when he forced his opinion to the patient like that... now I'm reading the comments on FujiTV staff blog for the last epi... in relation to the saving people topic... apparently... lots of people in Japan has different thoughts... they love the ending -__-"... and there're lots of requests for SP... I haven't finished reading the comments yet, but I hope there're somebody who pointed out this topic...

[identity profile] katzsong.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Idk..I've heard rumors that the mangaka cannot finish it due to a circumstance? So, yeah, I'm pessimistic that Glass Mask will have an end.
EEEH?! can you point me to those comments? I kinda think it's cultural-influenced thing, because the Japanese is so filial and willing to do self-sacrifice, imo. But still...it's so wrong. Even the medical world still have huge disagreements on the issue. Stem cell might be okay, but not organ harvest, from a genetically engineered human being or clones.

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
This is what I'm reading now: http://blog.fujitv.co.jp/LASTHOPE/E20130326001.html#COMMENTLIST_TOP

You can use google translate to have it easy reading in English, it won't be that far off... so far I haven't seen a comment poking on the issue.

[identity profile] katzsong.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the link, but I'm afraid it's not working for me. The Japanese characters don't show up on my screen and idk why. My laptop usually doesn't have problems with Japanese characters/kanji.
Guess I can't complain anyway orz...

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I like My Girl. You can see Aiba-chan improves a bit in My Girl... compare to the first episode, where he's totally -__-". Love the story and I fell for Aiba-chan after I watched My Girl... who wouldn't, he's damn bloody cute when he did that shala shala pon LOL...

I like Haikei Chichiue sama but I like Yasashii Jikan more :D. Haikei has lots of mild funnies and quite entertaining. I bawled when I watched Yasashii Jikan, I thought Nino can bloody act when I watch it. haaaa... I haven't finished Yoiko no Mikata, actually it's because I'm too lazy to continue it haha...

[identity profile] katzsong.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, Aiba's smiling is good, Aiba's crying/angry is awkward, in My Girl XD
Idk if I want to watch Yasashii Jikan, because I'm actually not into that kind of drama. I may watch it one day, because of Nino in it. I'm more of mystery/crime/thriller/suspense drama, with comedy and sci fi on the side sometimes.

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
True LOL, Aiba's smile is precious...
Ah, if you like the mystery type of drama, I just watched SP drama titled Sankai... i think you should watch it, it's good and Soejima is in it hehehe...

[identity profile] katzsong.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
What kind of mystery? I kinda like the Soejima guy in My Girl, btw. He looked kakkoi in there :P

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Saikai is the drama title. It's about 4 childhood friend, but the friendship sort of stop when one of the kid's dad got killed in the wood and the first people on the crime scene is those 4 kids. After that their lives changed and go spiral. I find the story plot is good and intense hehe... Soejima is the supporting police who's keep on investigating that murder case, why?

That's the gist of it, hehe
I totally forget that Soejima is in My Girl... should re-watch My Girl haha...

[identity profile] katzsong.livejournal.com 2013-04-06 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
hmm...where did you get it? I looked over his dramawiki and could find the title :P

nevermind, I found it on DA and doramax264 :P thx for the tips! ^^

I think I agree with you on the acting ranking of the Arashi members: Nino-Ohno-Jun-Sho-Aiba. Nino and Ohno are good because they can become their characters flawlessly. Sho and Aiba are not so good because Sho thinks too much & shows it and because Aiba does not yet know how to express different emotions properly.

Jun I think has gone from good-to-bland instead of being hit-and-miss for me though. The roles that he had been given up until Smile had all been manga adaptations so the character had already been made and he just had to bring life to it in his own way, which he did very well. Smile's Vito was also a very different character/personality than MatsuJun's own so he was also able to "be" the role in that drama as well. In the 2 following dramas though (NatsuNiji and Lucky 7), I think the characters were molded to "fit" MatsuJun instead and that's why it didn't really feel like he was being the character just acting as himself as the character. Probably his new movie, Hidamari no Kanojo, will fall into the latter category as well sadly.

I hope to see not just Aiba & Sho, but all of the Arashi members get different types of roles in order to improve their acting chops though. :) I'd actually really like to see Jun in some type of tough-guy action role (Rokudenashi Blues comes to mind since he already did a boxing butai but there is already a drama adaptation of this manga).

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-07 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
I forget to mention, Nino is good but he sucks at kissing scenes... big time... Jun on the other hand, nails love scenes haha.

I never watch Smile, should I watch it? Overbaked Jun is not really appetizing to me, that's why I always skip it haha...

I think we will see Arashi getting different types of roles but Jun may take awhile because he's already stuck in tsundere roles stereotype for quite some time. Nino will always get a good written drama because he already has the reputation. I'm not so sure about Ohno, so far he's been lucky. Sho-chan, he just need to think less when acting, where Aiba-chan needs people to give him chance to do the job. If he can do expressions in his butai... why not on TV?

[identity profile] animecook.livejournal.com 2013-04-07 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
You should definitely watch it if you want to cry. Jun's character is supposed to be half-Filipino that's why he looks overbaked. It's not that big of a hindrance as you watch the drama because his acting is really good. Just be warned that it deals with racism in Japan and it is really sad, probably why it didn't get such good ratings (the Japanese really don't like to be reminded of their own xenophobic & moral shortcomings I guess).

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-07 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
I know, I read about Smile when I'm filling up my HD with Arashi drama (based on their resume XD). Maybe I should give it a chance when I'm in the mood of serious tear induced drama...

Now that you mentioned it, there's a trend, whenever there's a drama with touchy subject, it'll always have low ratings. Having Johnny's there not helping either haha... I do wonder what'll happen if they put Kimutaku on those kinds of drama.

[identity profile] katzsong.livejournal.com 2013-04-07 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I want Nino to play a character like Shawn Spencer of Psych. He's a happy character. Nino's drama-character tends to be melodramatic or tragic, mostly :P except Yamada Taro, I guess.

[identity profile] animecook.livejournal.com 2013-04-08 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
I LOVE PSYCH (in the middle of re-watching from season 1) :)
& I would love to see Nino playing a character like Shawn, maybe a colab with Ohno as Gus??? That would be so hilarious LOL

[identity profile] katzsong.livejournal.com 2013-04-08 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm..Ohno as Gus...I haven't thought of that, but it seems like a great idea. Sho can be Lassiter and Takahasi Katsumi-san as Nino's dad (he's bald also haha), Toda Erika can be Jules, Nanako Matsushima can be Chief Vick.
That'll be one awesome drama :Db

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-08 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
and I just deleted the 1st season of Psych coz I didn't think I'm gonna watch it... haaaa...

[identity profile] katzsong.livejournal.com 2013-04-09 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
lol I'm sure you can find them again easily on the net. I'm following the latest season now (season 7). I did lost interest on season 5-mid of season 6, 'coz I have my focus elsewhere, but during the last half of season 6, I picked them up again and realized how much I love the series, Shawn and the gang. They always cheer me up and I love the NGs part on the end of almost each episodes XD

[identity profile] qonyta.livejournal.com 2013-04-07 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
thanks for the caps XD

so sad and confused actually with takumi's fate at the ending..maybe he donate his bone marrow transplant to his brother,,
just my guess :P

so basically he was created as the donor for his brother..his existence wasnt really acknowledged by his real parent..:(
glad hatano sr really loves him

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-07 12:50 pm (UTC)(link)
you're welcome!

I hope it's just bone marrow, not another kidney. That's why I want an SP, and not a prequel SP.

Yeah, it makes you want to hug and pet him right? His biological parents are really cruel, in my opinion. Takumi is not treated as human being at all. Thankfully there's Hatano household who gave him a real family.

[identity profile] qonyta.livejournal.com 2013-04-07 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
cant agree more..i want an SP too

maybe thats the reason hatano sr hesitated telling takumi the truth. and he doesnt want his son doing another sacrifice for his real brother knowing his son character as a doctor who wanna try saving patients until the end

[identity profile] i-am-zan.livejournal.com 2013-04-14 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
Heheheh! I'm back!!!

Well ... I'm in agreement with you on a lot of things and feel ...OMG THEFEELS!!!!!

So I can tell you now ... I knew from the scar that it was a kidney transplant that he had had, because I have one exactly the same size and place. I gave my kidney to my sister about 17 years ago. She had renal failure and was at first on meds for it. Then the meds failed to work, so they put her on dialysis. From once a week, and then it got increased to three times a week. The docs said she needed a transplant, and of course they told us that the transplant is best when the donor is a sibling.

A few things kind of off about the scar though. I did it when I was 28, and the scar is the same size. Now if he did it at 2, the scar would be smaller and less pronounced than mine. But maybe it's to drive home a point, and possibly they don't expect your regular drama fangirl to actually know about stuff.

But of course the scriptwriters didn't count on Arashi fangirls. Ahahaha!

Going straight to the closing ... yes I'm hoping that he doesn't have to give up another kidney ... because that would really kill off our pretty doctor. One can live fine on one kidney ... but not without both. So I'm not sure what they're going in for this time.

The other thing what I don't get is even though Takumi was an IVF 'donor' baby. Why was he not wanted by his biological parents. Unless they don't want to face the guilt of facing him everyday for their very questionable reasons for having him in the first place.

I'm glad in the end that Hatano sensei was his father. He seems to be better Dad material.

Phew! The FEELS OMG THE FEELS ... nearly died so many times from holding my breath too long.

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-14 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh wow, the feels!!!! Deshou!!!!

Coming from a real kidney donor, wow, it just makes this drama sooo real!!!
Yeah, I hope they don't kill our pretty doctor *still clinging on SP despite bad rating,* but at the beginning, our pretty doctor say something that it doesn't require him to die or something (need sub coz the japanese sub is a bit off --> that when you put in google translate it goes haywired!)

Ha! Now you mention it, the operation scar did look new, not like a 25+ years old scar... Maybe drama just wanna emphasize the scar so they ask the make up artist to just make it darker XD...

I think the drama wanted to point out the cruelty of being scientist like they purposely create a baby (human being) just for the sake to make the other human being survive... and at the same time show the human side of Hatano sensei senior (he's a good dad)...

[identity profile] i-am-zan.livejournal.com 2013-04-14 09:31 am (UTC)(link)
I think I will do this comment separately because ... It's easier for me to comparmentalise my thoughts this way, also less messy.

So ... the feels that I want to be angry with Takumi for really insisting the brothers do the operation ... *shakes head* - here I was holding my breath going NONONONONOOOOO!!!! Please let this one go. Please just let the old man die happy because now his oldest son loves him enough to want to sacrifice. But like stop it there already.

SUper risky operation, yup SUPER DOCtoRS indeed. So yeah maybe in this case the scriptwriters really pulled the artistic license card to 1) let the operation go ahead 2) survive 3) the only hitch they had was the twisted tube (which looked like it was fixed with a plaster ... uhhhmmm ... ohhhkaaaay) and 4) the donors were walking around after two days????
after a lung being taken out of them ... uhmmm no not really.

... I had a kidney taken out and I ended up in ICU (this was the thing I was in Mt E for) for a week. Apparently I took too long to come out from the anaesthesia that I developed bronchial pneumonia. But that's beside the point. That apparently happened because it was just 'bad luck'. Still luckily the Mt. E staff didn't want to face a lawsuit so they paid for the extra ICU stay. Thankfully my dad didn't have to foot the bill.

But the thing is after transplants usually patients are placed in a 'clean room' kind of ward. This for a number of reasons. The patients body is severely compromised and weakened so they are very susceptible to germs/bacteria. They are not just battling the fear of rejection. My sis had to stay in isolation for a week. And for me if I had not been warded in the ICU, I would definitely have been warded in isolation for three days. We weren't allowed visitors until the 7th day ... and even then only immediate family. You can also bet that I was definitely NOT walking around after three days.

*sigh* - Artistic license indeed.

I am glad that Tachibana sensei got to see her dad ... and eventually (if we ever get an SP ...) I would like to think that she eventually would soften up and forgive her father.

Also ... Oqiwara and Takagi sensei will forever spar and he'll never get to date her. She might let him buy her a coffee though in the hospital canteen.

And that Soejima - I'm not sure I liked what he did. Very sneaky and underhanded.

Other little feels ...

It was so sweet of Takumi to warm up his stethoscope before putting it on Naruse sensei.

It was nice that far away in the past that Tachibana and Takagi sensei had crossed paths before.

I liked how Ogiwara bullied Takumi from eating his dessert and told him to get on with the day's case files.

I guess the scriptwriters could have chosen a better plot device for compare and contrast than the President's lung disease/family convolutions, if they had wanted to parallel the family values and family ties and how far one would go for family thing ... *shrugs* I dunno.

But at the end of the day ... overall I enjoyed the drama, and not just because Aiba was in it ... lots of ikemen helped. But I also enjoyed the repartee and rapport between the team, (although I wished they downplayed the fail cutesy nurse thing, because really if she is so fail she wouldn't have passed to be a nurse especially not to help in the OR just yet). I did enjoy most of the storylines, Kudos to the props department so much of it was real, (uhmmm maybe too real??? in someparts). I also loved the back story to all the doctors. Although I'm still not sure about Soejima's true role in all of this.

Let us hope this is a good jump off point for Aiba to other better drama too. I'd love for him to do a completely serious role like Ohno in Maou. That would truly be a test for him.

Also yeah, could you PM Jane(hemisofia) just to tell her you're coming yes (I hope you are ... it would be lovely to meet ... I'll PM you her email ok! )

I need to make more Aiba icons! Heheheh!

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-14 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
hahahaha...

again... deshouuuu???? can we smack Takumi's head left n right when he keeps telling president daddy to take his sons' lungs? daddy already prepared to die in peace no? yet this doctor... well, drama, in real life we won't see such a crazy passionate doctor haaaa... coz the case reeks of malpractice hehehe... but in drama, like what you said, we have super doctors! they can do a fixer upper and i think the drama is driven by the last case must be a successful case... with happy ending, people with 1 lung can happily walk around right after operations (even though daddy still on the bed)... yeah... DRAMA hehehehe...

Regardless, it's a fun and very enjoyable drama... and now I'm still sort of post Last Hope withdrawal syndrome...

I hope hope hope after this drama, our sunshine boy is given chance to be in quality drama.. I'm thinking couple of roles:
- a rom com drama... he'll be challenged with some love scene, which dear Nino already failed miserably not just once, but more importantly I wanna see Aiba being lovey dovey hahaha...
- a dark police role (those sleazy corrupt jackass cop)... he'll be challenged to have more than 1 brooding expression haaaaa...
- a psycho serial killer... Gackt is very good in it, ha! but I think Aiba can nail this

[identity profile] i-am-zan.livejournal.com 2013-04-14 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes it certainly was out of character for a doctor ... (or maybe because we are used to emotionless Asian doctors) that are not quite so passionate about such a kind of operation.

(I don't know maybe he took lessons from House? I didn't watch the series but as far as doctors are concerned ... House was pretty crazy)

Also ... if you Google Telomere iPS Cell reprogramming you actually do get Yamanaka Shinya, upon whose works this drama is based on. So ... I would say all aspects of this doctor would be represented by the various doctors we get to see on the show.

So Soejima and Komaki are the researcher part of Yamanaka. Naruse sensei is the director part of him. (Yamanaka sensei is the Director of the IPS Cell Research and Application, and serves as professor at Kyoto University.

And this drama does deal with the ongoing debate on the ethics of stem cell research, or more importantly how far to take that research and touches on the very touchy subject of donor babies. ...

I watched a medical film/thing can't remember what it was exactly, but this kid was born to parents using IVF so that they could take her bone marrow from her and to try and save her brother. The thing was, she had always wondered was in hospital for tests and things, eventually the truth came out what she was around for. She thought she was the sick one, but in fact she was not. The sad thing was it was discovered that her brother's body began to reject her cells anyway, and then her parents did so too because she was deemed useless. It was a horrifying story and one that I hope isn't entirely true. *shiver* - I think of all the people that cannot have children and want to so badly that would love any child they could have. Personally I don't think I could not love a child that was mine. I dread to think that there are such people about.

But yes ... onto happier things ...

Because yes I am in agreement with you ... Aiba would make the perfect psycho serial killer. Especially with the killer smile of his. People would be totally taken in. And then mwahahahaha they'd still die happy anyway. ^_~

Hmmm I don't know about the rom-com though. I think with practise he might get good at love scenes because Nino totally fails. They all do very well the 'awkward love interest' but none of them (and even for me Jun has trouble convincing me) to do a convincing love scene. Although ... if I think about it ... I think totally Nino and Ohno might be able to pull it off. But you know I think Nino is more comfortable with guy kissing. That kiss he did with that kid on Gakou e Ikkou (with the boys) and anytime he's kissed Ohno ... and of course when he did Strangers on a Train, there were some man kissing scenes apparently (I could be recalling incorrectly though). I think with Nino it's a comfort thing.

I think Ohno in a love scene either with a man or a woman ... he can be intense. I suppose though out of the five of them stage wise, he's had the most practice. (Damn I keep thinking of Ohno doing Hamlet! Oohhhhh my beating heart won't stop racing)

Nino has had the most experience with movies and dramas and a few with stage plays. So his range is more extensive.

BUT like I said people forget that Aiba has had more stage experience than either Jun or Sho, and on stage (from that one that was on DVD anyways, and from clips I've seen from "Greenfingers" ) is actually bloody good. Of course my view is slightly biased as I may be in love with the man *grins*

As much as I might be with Ohno ... hard to say. ^_^

[identity profile] i-am-zan.livejournal.com 2013-04-14 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
oooh look I do have Aiba icons ... ^)^ sorry for the spam

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-15 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
ouwww the time when he still got a tiny piece of meat in his body hihihi, aiba-chan has nvr been w extra meat, always lean n even too lean, does he even have body fat? haaaaaa,
i wan more sexy aiba, lately its always been his pretty side haaaa

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-04-15 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
i did google the ips cell reprogramming stuff n that prof name came on top, didnt read much of it though, i'm not in healthcare haaaaa....
house is crazy, his method is really treating patients body like a piece of meat n do some break fix while on it... scarry, last hope is much milder n only goes for omething less risky, except the last case off coz...
whats the name of the movie? not that i wanna watch, but just curious coz i only know 'my sisters keeper', n from the story, thats just horrible... humans can be really heartless...

on the happy stuff,
have u seen ooku? u'll see fail nino's kissing scenes w girl, but very sweet kissing scene w guys.... n u'll wonder lollll
for love scene, i like jun in tokyo tower, okada is more convincing, but jun is no less screw up than okada there n look pretty at the same time too lol,
agree w u, ohno will probably pull off some love scenes, if they give him one hehe
i like aiba's butai too (the one in dvd), theres 1 fancam where he plays w no dialogue n thats also not bad despite no closed up coz... fancam lol...
where did u see green fingers clips? he looks so pretty for the posters hihihi

thank you for this! I can't watch this drama, so for me it's mean a lot hehe
i really love aiba and tabe mikako hehe

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-05-12 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
you're welcome!
do watch it if you have a chance, it's a medical suspense entertainment.

[identity profile] kahlias.livejournal.com 2013-05-12 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
I love to watch it but because I did not join in the community who subbed last hope, I could not watch it :(. and I just found a few episodes raw

[identity profile] spsn.livejournal.com 2013-05-12 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
ah, i only know stormy subbed this drama, but i think there's another group is also subbing it, but they're quite slow in releasing :D

[identity profile] kahlias.livejournal.com 2013-05-12 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
ah thanks
I will search and wait hehe
