This will be a very short post because I have an 8am call tomorrow and I almost forget that today is the brat's birthday, so Happy Birthday Nino! May you bring us more good dramas, movies, SP and explore more different and endearing roles! I'd love to see you playing as a bad guy, the really sick and cruel guy. Not sure that grandpa Johnny will ever allow you to take such role, but it'll be fun to see you as a bad guy... for once. Being a boy who murdered his daddy in Ao no Hono doesn't count because I feel sorry for your character.

Not sure I've mentioned it before, but I'm hooked to Arashi thanks to this brat, Matsujun may lead me to recognize Arashi existence, but this brat's drama is what makes me want to find out more about Arashi, and the rest is history. One of Nino's drama that really touched my heart is this Yasashii Jikan. It's a very slow phase drama, and some people may end up sleeping through the episodes. However, I find this drama carries a very deep message about relationship and family, it takes time to heal.

Yasashii Jikan

Yasashii Jikan is basically about a coffee shop owner of Tokei no Mori (the Forest Clock), Yukichi. He ended up opening the shop in Furano, Hokkaido after his wife's passing being Furano is her hometown. He left his life before her passing to start anew, and that includes leaving his son Takuro. It takes years for Yukichi to later found out that he's misunderstood his son and miscommunication turned to grudge and remorse towards his son, who also didn't really know how to express himself explicitly. So the son, still loving his dad and yearning for his fatherly love,  lived in Biei as pottery apprentice and hope that someday daddy will forgive him and look at him.

What's so compelling about this drama? First the scenery, the first 2 episodes is on Fall season so you get to see how ridiculously beautiful Furano and Biei in fall and the rest of episodes are snowy white Hokkaido, which is equally beautiful.

Then you get the beautiful angle shots of the beautiful cafe (both outside and inside) setting and the coffee hand grinder. vlcsnap-02781vlcsnap-02792

And you get to see how the plot, though the focus is on the how the father and son relationship heals over time, also revolves around the coffee shop's customers as well. In a small town, the customers are the same day by day and town gossip can be spread just by sitting around sipping your favorite coffee.

And off course, we get to see the cute Tacchan and Azu's version of going out. I know people may not like Masami because of dating Nino thingy, but the couple here is awkwardly cute, and I went 'aww'  when they have that moment scene. But what really pierce my heart is this scene below from episode 3 and I bawl here every time I re-watch this drama (yeah, I rewatch this drama n number of times already).

I can really enjoy slow dramas, though. But you have to be in the mood for it. Next time I'm ill at home. That is good time for slow drama.

Oh. I just have to comment. Yasashii Jikan is one of my favorite dramas, ever. I agree that the setting really made it beautiful and all the more haunting, but the performances in this drama were just really amazing. Everything moves so slow yet it breaks your heart. And mends it too.

I was super over the moon with Masami and Nino on this one. I concur with you, they were completely adorable in this drama. Azu is just, I don't know, her character really spoke to me--she wasn't someone you'd normally root for and you would question her moments of selfishness, because what the hell--but Azu as a character just rang so true to me. And I think she was perfect with Takuro--they weren't perfect for each other, but they were whe each other needed the most. I think that goes for most of the relationships in this drama. They were all so real and so raw, and just...god.

(PS: I never did get all the Masami hate, gosh. I love her. :( )

AND YES, THAT SCENE. CRYING FOREVER. NOW YOU MAKE ME WANT TO WATCH THIS AGAIN BUT I'M AFRAID OF FEELING EVERYTHING ALL OVER AGAIN LOL

Yey!!! Another fan of Yasashii Jikan! I've always thought that this drama is underrated and under radar on most Arashi fans I've known.
To me somehow the slow phase gets you to appreciate the characters' emotion, get to know them, and get to empathy on what they went through... so many feels!!!

and yes! Azu is not the character that you'd normally root for, especially on the 'selfish' part, but somehow you sympathize and end up thinking 'ah, she meant well' XD. And Nino looked so innocent here, and yeah, I'm rewatching this again... never tired of this drama LOL...
