Yeah, I haven't been posting Aiba Manabu lately, not because the episodes are not interesting, they are, but it's just bloody taxing to translate the whole thing word by word due to my limited nihongo and lately my RL work is seriously quadrupled like flowing water, so yeah, I value my sleeping time more nowadays. But nevertheless, I just have to cap this episode no matter what because IT'S SO COOL!!! Not to mention that Aiba-chan is majorly excited in this episode, I can see twinkles in his eyes! Seriously, you've seen them before, you're in awe whenever you see this kind of thing but have you ever wondered how long does it take to make them? Yeap, I'm talking about this episode of karakuri.

Karakuri in Japanese literal dictionary meaning is mechanism. They're not only exist for fun and lots of our daily life gadgets are based on karakuri. Easiest example is our watches, those factory assembly machines and many more.

This time Aiba-chan is accompanied by 3 members, why the need of so many people? And Sawabe can might as well be a permanent member XD I like him with Aiba-chan, they're a funny bunch when put together.


Mission of today: Make your own karakuri! Heeee???


So karakuri can be easily spoken as karaoke XD, not only Suzuki said it wrongly, even sensei does it too!


See how light up his eyes are? He's really interested in the subject. Show, get it? You need to show this kind of episode more! Am sure there are lots of things about Japan in this magnitude!


Karakuri exists since Edo period and one of the first karakuri from that period is the tea cup carrier doll. So what's the cool thing about this doll? First, it starts to 'walk' when you put the cup on the tray and...


IT CAN DO U-TURN! to return back the cup to the host. COOL eh?


Next is the backflip doll, it can keep on backflipping, how does it do that?


See the excitement? They're like kids... well... boys seeing new gadgets... XD


So the key of this doll is mercury, make sense because mercury has weight density (sorry I returned my physics knowledge to the school the soonest I finished college LOL)

I always love how Aiba-chan throws in the questions to member: Shall we do it (the karakuri experiment)? No? hehehe


Pretty eh? They started by learning types of karakuri that they can make. There are many ways and they need to choose which one they want to combine.


So, the pachinko ball is supposed to flow down to the horn, hit the small drum and jump to the other horn. And on the experiment, unfortunately it hits Aiba-chan's hand instead huehehe... Hope his hand not bruised up after the shooting huehehe...

What Aiba-chan is smiling about? Well, it's the baseball bat off course and he's been holding it...


Yes Aiba-chan we will use it, we'll make sure we'll use it as you've been holding it forever since you saw it LOL

And making sure his onigiri is used for the karakuri, though Suzuki and Takeyama finally manage to make the first step of the karakuri aka they have to redo LOL


Show, this is what it means when the episode was fun! We get lots of excited Aiba-chan expressions!


This is why I like Sawabe, he can 'instruct' his senpais to buy food for the young ones, instead of Aiba-chan doing it XD, and we'll see Aiba-chan smiling and giggling at the back XD...

So expectation and reality... will it work?


I keep this cap because it's bloody funny, it looks like Aiba-chan kissing Sawabe's head LOL and with this 2 hours has passed...


They keep experimenting at the same part and time flies...


By the time the 2 senpais came back, it's already 3 hours of shooting and they didn't even have time to eat due to time limit. And Aiba-chan take a huge bite of the bread is cute, as always...


So that's the whole blueprint of Aiba Manabu's karakuri. Will it work?


And the staff also helped out as it's getting closer to the time limit, again, Aiba-chan squatting is cute!


Aiba-chan's nose... so straight and pretty! and he's sweating like hell too hehehe...


Again, bonus prettiness...


So, after 5 hours... will it work?

Third try... a miracle?


Yeah, it works off course, I think if it's not working, they'll end up work more hours to make sure it works and cut it to 3rd try XD... but we don't mind because it's a cool experiment! Look how happy they are XD...

Aiba is so cute in this episode :)
I think if any of the Arashi members' new solo shows are going to make it past this year, it's going to be Aiba Manabu.
Both Sho's & Nino's seem like generic variety/talk shows and have had really boring episodes sometimes.
Aiba's is the only one with a purpose & room to expand to make it more entertaining in content and with different partners/hosts.

tbh, i can't even watch sho's and i don't understand the concept of nino's. Aiba's is the only one that has structure and very easy to digest and understand, not to mention... cute XD and yeah, hope it past 1 year mark
