To be honest, I was actually a bit disappointed with this episode because it could have been another gem of Aiba Manabu episode because we all know that Aiba-chan + outdoor = love. But apparently it didn't work to that advantage in this episode. I didn't get as much as fun as I thought I would have watching this one and seems that Aiba-chan's tension is not that high as well, off course, I'm not even comparing it to the bamboo shoots episode. Why is that you'd wonder... probably the wet rainy day makes it a bit gloomy for a camping episode? You'll be the judge

Probably it's this split of group that reduce down the tension, may be it's just me. I'd think just Sawabe and Aiba-chan teaming up together will make even a more lively show.


Such prettiness, we've seen them so many times but we won't get bored...


So the winner must go ask for permission to the house owner. Aiba-chan suggested, Aiba-chan won LOL


And off he went up there, introducing himself as ARASHI and off course got an OK. But seems that in this area, obaa-chan and ojii-chan don't really know Arashi (they need more recognition, can bet you the same obaa-chan and ojii-chan will recognize SMAP)


Aiba-chan is asking for ANYTHING that they can take for FREE since they got no money, but they're camping and they need to eat, so in exchange for money they offer... gag show, heh... they're comedians anyway, including our pretty boy...

This old gag of Aiba-chan really never gets old and Ojii-chan couldn't help it but laugh


Happiness that his gag is successful!


And with that they got the Kare rogue. But there're still plenty of items to get to make Kare rice


On the next house, we get cucumber? But what cucumber gotta do with Kare rice hahaha....


Meanwhile, the other team is tasked for fishing and with zero results after 1 hour and they kept on failing for another hour or 2.


So, in this shop, they're supposed to get potatoes and what they need to do in exchange for them.


After what much of can be called discussion, they decided on...


A totally failed gag that even Aiba-chan embarrassed of performing it, and in the end they just BEGGED LOL, Who could resist those puppy eyes, esp obaa-chans...


So next target is this Obaa-chan, what they'll do for food?


Mago Mago style! Aiba-chan's specialty! Massage! This time it's 3 people doing the massage, obaa-chan looks like she's in a spa haha...


Standard Aiba-chan's question, how old in a cute way. Only grandma will be proud in answering that question hehe... Obaa-chan is 88 years old. What I'm amazed of Japanese baa-chan and jii-chan, they're that old and they're still very healthy compare to baa-chan and jii-chan in here, same age. What could be the difference? Food? Diet?


And they get corn! Look how happy he was!


And they got the meat too!!! and saying good by ala Mago Mago too! Bring back MMA!!!!!!


Still fishing w/ no results, will they make it???


Last target! For rice! This time the mom recognize Aiba-chan!



Since the family had a boy, the group decided mini skit of some super sentai and Aiba-chan as the so called super sentai defeating the youkais and instead of making the kid happy, they managed to scare him off LOL...


So they got the rice! And now, let's cooking!


Result show down!


Both teams results! How the other team get that many fishes???


So apparently they're using other method of fishing to get the fishes?


I skipped the fish preparation because it looked barbaric but the result looked damned delicious!


So, he managed to tear his pants off while doing barbecue? hahaha


Aiba-chan munching.... the corn...


Look at Aiba-chan and Sawabe sharing the corn... so kawaii...


See??? The fishes look good!!!


Further camping goods education...


This one is actually cool!!! You just need to put in water close the lid and it boils the water and whatever inside the plastic bag.


Plate handler. Aiba-chan liked this one!


See? Benri (convenient) ne?


You can use this instant stew packs to make stew (note that red teapot)


But the plate can't be used for hot soup, only those light yakiniku and such...


Remember that teapot? it can be squashed, realle save lots of space...

ITADAKIMASU! everybody happy... the end... not!


How to make ice cream OUT DOOR! All you need is 30cc fresh cream, 70cc milk, and 40gr sugar. Put all those into the small tin.


Put water and sugar in the bigger tin, and place the small tin into it and close the lid. Play catch ball (the tins)  with your friends for 15 minutes.


And you got yourself and ice cream! Aiba-chan: Umai!!!!

Hi there,
You know, when I read your first paragraph, I felt my heart swell.. you said exactly what I felt about this episode.

Having watched each episode weekly, and then watched this epi, the first thing I thought of was the bamboo shoots and the tea picking ones. Those are truly gems in this series, they brought out Aiba's sunny character and his ability to turn a small theme into something intriguing, interesting and amusing all at once. Those kinds of episodes leave a good feeling that last a whole week.. till the next epi..

But these 2 camping epis, I don't know what to say, until I saw your comment.. I really wanted to hug you.. you said what was in my heart..

I think the producers want to pull in more viewers aside from just the Aiba fans, but perhaps at the expense of showcasing Aiba's shiny personality.

And yes, as you mentioned, it could be the gloomy and wet weather bringing down the tension, but I remember in the old Arashi shows, the weather never did make Aiba less sunny nor the program less meaningful. [eg. rowing a cardboard boat in the rain.. cycling in the late night.. fishing with a grandpa on a boat in the rain..]

ah so glad i'm not the only one out there haha
the first camping epi was actually ok for me, i already feel something is missing but still ok, but the second one... really... i only can think of several other reasons, and u're right rain shouldn't dim aiba-chan's tension:
1. too many comedians, 6members! i think they should be fine w 4, takenoko n tea epu have 4 only. and besides sawabe, the rest of the member are not good in utilizing aiba-chan skills. i demand them to bring tsucchi and the shiyagare kudoi mise host back. they know how to pull back n when to bully aiba-chan.
2. too many unnecessary gags, n they're not even funny. so yeah, that reduce the interest for me. i totally get aibachan's embarassement when he had to do the basket gag
lol hope it makes sense to u hahaaa
i feel that even the mamachari epi is better, i need to do more translation on that though lolll
