Thoughts on Playzone 2013

If you adore orthodox Johnny's, then you definitely know what PLAYZONE is. I'm one of the late bloomer to plunge into the world of awesome dance and songs of PLAYZONE. All those twirls, spins, jumps not to mention backflips and those acrobats, if you're not watching ABC-Z performance, you'll still them here XD. And mind you, they're done beautifully and more artsy here. Watching PLAYZONE is like immersing yourself into a dream of colorful show, and having familiar good looking faces that you usually see on PVs/concerts etc is a bonus point. Just because it's Johnny's, it doesn't mean it's without quality. On the contrary, it's much better and more professionally done than some musical that I've watched before (I have limited knowledge on musical and not a regular musical goer, BUT I can tell at the very least what a good musical is, and PLAYZONE is one).
For 2013, they try to do something different. This time they don't really have a plot, they do still insert skits here and there but mostly, it'll be purely song and dance on Johnny's songs (kind of like JCD actually, but no medley haha). So what does make it different from the regular concert and music show? Well, they change the choreography for some of the songs, so you see a really different performance and the atmosphere is totally different and definitely again, more artsy. The moves, expressions are bigger and more exaggerated, and it has the glam of being a stage play rather than regular music performance. So, with this, what you get to see is boys who really love singing and dancing passionately. And this definitely makes me happier XD.

So, whose shoes is this? Huehehehe!!!!
Not convince enough? Well, maybe the pretties will help. I just cap the performances that I especially love(and being Yaracchi bias too) XD.
Kamen Butoukai (仮面舞踏会)~ Well, who doesn't like the classics? And in this Playzone, they retain the original choreography... almost. Where's the backflip haha? Oh well, they do retain what fangirls want to see the most, ha!
いっそ X・T・C 俺と X・T・C 強く強く... enough said.

You literally hear KYAAAA when they do this LOL... fangirls are the same regardless of age, place etc XD
Mizu no Kaeru Basho (水の帰る場所) ~ Well, I love Yaracchi's dance, and especially when he dance to slow songs. It's just... beautiful! Plus, he has the expression. In here he just dance, and Yuma do all the singing. I particularly love the song too, it's beautiful and with the dance, even if you don't understand the lyrics, you'll get the message. Another point that I like about this performance is that though Yara and Yuma is on the same stage, Yara doesn't 'see' Yuma. Yuma acts as if he's the observer of Yara, as in the 3rd party narration.

See? Beautiful, right? right? right? Simple lighting, staging, but the impact is... wow.

Yuma-Yara fanfic, anybody? This just screams for one hahaha...
Maitta ne Konya (まいったネ今夜) ~ This number is really very Broadway like. From the dance style, the stage, basically everything. Yara is particularly flirty in here too, and the moves... <3

Kakkoii!!!

See that sway? <3<3<3

It's not Broadway without the background people playing music hahaha...
And off course, it's not Johnny's show without fan service! Looking cool is a must but looking cute is also a must! Ah, being an idol is difficult ne? heuhehehe...

Cuteness overload, and off course the chibi must be at the bottom... XD

Fan service! That fangirl will never wash that towel LOL...
Andalucia ni Akogarete (アンダルシアに憧れて) ~ This song is my favorite on JCD because it's always a meccha kakkoii performance. So I'm very curious when they put it here. Well, I have the answer now and, yes, Johnny's doesn't disappoint me. Andalucia's theme is always black and red, and they definitely retain this. What I notice in here is that the tempo is faster than when it's performed at JCD. And this performance becomes splendid because Tsubasa is a Flamenco dancer (I think I read this somewhere), so his posture is just beautiful XD. They change the whole choreography, still nicely done, but no picking up jacket with mouth and definitely no back flip from upper stage (that'll remain in 2003 JCD). I don't remember Tsubasa in any of JCD's Andalucia performance... WHY?

Red & Black <3

Simple is beautiful!

I love the opposite costumes of black and red suits and when Tsubasa facing us, the rest move backwards and you see a domino.
Omatsuri Ninja (お祭り忍者) ~ This one is something different. Love this one because of the creativity. Traditional and meccha kakkoii performance and definitely full of energy. Definitely worth a watch.

Notable performances are Star Light (those roller blading... it's not Orthodox Johnny's without roller blade); Flower (I begin to appreciate this song thanks to PLAYZONE)

So what do you think? More love for PLAYZONE?
