In this episode we have Nino doing PPAP (which I just can't unsee, I wish I could rewind the time I spent watching this, ugh), Kyary Pamyu Pamyu (only the shiritori segment actually caught my attention), and... This is MJ! First female guest and... she slayed MJ LOL!!! MJ was actually hyper and cute in this segment <3. Anyhoo, enjoy the segment, tried to cut short the caps, but alas...

you cannot unsee this, right?
Again... LONG caps )

Bonus )

I still have 1 Manabu post to be posted in this 2016, cross finger I can finish it on time.

And that senile grandma is really so determine in burry SMAP alive. And Arashi get to perform as the last performer in Kouhaku, gee, what a coincidence??? I'm proud for Arashi, HOWEVER, that place is like handed over to them, not achieved by them, and that disappoint me because Arashi will get it sooner or later anyway, but no, that senile grandma must do it this way.

SMAP is a freaking legend, at the very least they deserve to bow out with dignity, not being shunned away (rejecting Kouhaku invitation is just PURE BULLSHIT from Johnny's, who are they kidding? really? really? OK I need to cool down, phewwww) and locked in a box as if it's just a bad memory for that senile grandma.

Not impressed with how Johnny's deal with SMAP because it sets presedence to the junior groups (and it makes Arashi so politically correct now that it becomes boring tbh), and with that I can't really be happy with whatever had happened in 2016 (SMAP ends, Narimiya retires --> this is a very sad news and those tabloid people just need to burn in hell for ruining people's lives!!, and internationally Prince, George Michael, and so many more disappear from our world, plus we have that yellow bigbird as US president, and what happened in the Middle East, good lord, my heart breaks everytime I see the news, and all the stupidity going on in Indonesia, for godsakes religion should not be meddled with the nation prosperity)

NOW, I hope 2017 is better! Better J-drama (I have some expectation on Kimutaku drama, especially with the reunion of PRIDE couple), less angsty and better romcom K-drama, better world, better humanity, better economy revival (I know it's tough, but things need to turn around, else there'll be more horrible labor cuts and that's really bad), less economic greed (seriously, shareholders need to be controlled ethically, it's getting out of control on how companies push for short term profits). I think lots of these are wistful thinking, but we need hope to be living as humans, else we're just living beings crowding and destroying this place called earth.

Cain & Abel epi 4-7

Out of so many drama this Fall 2016, I think I end up looking forward to this one the most. There're some chops in Ryuichi's monologues (I think around episode 6 that I feel the most that it sounds like a plot hole, and this is one of the rare moments where I wish J-drama is having more episodes, so that the story flows better and not choppy), but nevermind, this is just a minor thing that somehow my pettiness just picked up. If we look back from the beginning of the episode, the first 2 episode is quite slow, and it just picked up when Yu starts to get more work aka work harder and getting more confidence while Ryuichi is going down mentally. Love the progressiveness of how Yamada portrayed Yu character. You can see the increasing of confidence level and changes in Yu as a whole (whether this is going to be good or bad). And I find this is to be more interesting than watching Doctor X for now.

Goblin epi 5-7

This beautiful drama is going to get more angsty soon. So we have to savour all the cute and adorbs bromance which are overflowing right now. The honorary mention goes to Grim Reaper with video calls and his hung up on business card (this goes for more than 1 episode LOL). Goblin being jealous is also another funny intake but what's better than Goblin watching Train to Busan (his own movie) and got the scared shit out of it in the most embarassing way.
Though this drama is pretty, with beautiful backdrops, cinematography, fabulous OST and good looking people and also fantastic acting, it doesn't make me emotionally attached to wanting the next episode pronto (side eyeing that harem drama) and it doesn't make me mulling over the characters too (THANK GOODNESS, I got a life to live). So, I guess I can enjoy watching this drama with more freedom and appreciation ;).

Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim epi 13-14

So it takes over 11 episode for the stupid doctor to be less stupid, and it takes 13 episodes for us to see the kissing scene again, no wonder they're dangling us with carrot (that hot kissing scene) in epi 1. Skip lots of non sense, especially with those scenes with Director Do, and off course when Kand Dong Joo being stupid.

Hwarang epi 1-3

Hmm... not as impressive as I'd think. I'm more frustrated watching this than watching Romantic Doctor, tbh. The political portion is more interesting than watching the pretty people (gasp), and probably the problem is the pretty people is not that super pretty as described (or maybe I just have different preferrences). Up till epi 3, I still don't know the characters names, and the main character is blindly taking revenge and not thinking aka rather stupid. Yes, his best friend was killed in front of him, but to direct your sword against the queen just like that, seriously??? really??? Looks like writer-nim just trying to get an easy way out to move the plot and create more angst. Even So knows when to direct his sword despite all his train wreck issues (and yes I still reference whatever to that harem drama and I'm not sorry).
spsn: (Default)
Can't stress enough how beautiful this drama from cinematography point of view!!! Not to mention the story, the acting is so good so far. I love how the goblin is portrayed here. Gong Yoo gives out this ancient air every now and then, very contrast to the petty and childish side of him when he banters with the shinigami. Speaking the shinigami, the bromance!!! The friendship that only lasts for 5 minutes line is totally LOL.

Our resident goblin LOVES being told that he's cool <3

Some pretties coz... just can't help it... )
spsn: (Default)
You know I'll jump straight in for a BEAUTIFUL and PRETTY drama because there's a reason why it's called fantasy drama. This is the perfect medicine to move on from that harem drama (though can I really move on? Not really since we won't get anything from SBS :( ). But look at the aesthetic, Epi 1 has all the beautiful stuff from Goryeo era, and the church, but Epi 2 just up the level with the scenes in Quebec. This is like movie quality for a drama. In J-drama, I only can think of TBS big budget drama to pull this kind of similar aesthetic (eg. Tenno no Ryouriban), but apparently it becomes more and more often for K-drama.

goblin 000021.jpg
This is what you call a goblin... K-drama version!

Enjoy the prettiness!!! )

And you don't want to piss off the goblin or you'll end up like ^^

It's been... almost ONE year since the last time I did this kind of recaps LOL...

I have mixed feeling about this segment, it's funny, I mean GACKT with Arashi is always adorbs and entertaining, but particularly with the medicine ball segment, I can't help but worry. If you saw GACKT IG acount, you'll know the medicine ball exercise because he posted some clips on it and it's damn hard, even for those who have that rigorous training regime regularly. So imagine if you're not so-called trained with that kind of spartan training menu, and people drop that medicine ball on your tummy, especially Aiba-chan's part, I can't help but worry about the potential injurIES that may happen, ranging from muscle inflamation to slipped disk (you use your back, which you're not supposed to, instead of your core muscle, to hold that ball). And you can even see Matsujun, the so-called most fit in Arashi, struggled, so you can imagine the rest. Enough of the rant and back to the whole segment itself, basically there're 3 parts of it, first is the random (literally random) quetions thrown at GACKT, then it's that training segment, and lastly it's the crane game.

As usual, LONG caps... )

I'm definitely a masochist for spending the entire sunny Saturday morning watching these 2 things... beautiful & pretty but at the same time, you know... making yourself emotionally twisted, as if that drama harem is not enough.

Never Say Goodbye

Nevermind that the girl's character is rather annoying and self centered (who wouldn't if the woo-er is that pretty LJK, damn), but as a whole this movie is something similar to Tamaki's Tada, Kimi wo Aishiteru, only the role is reversed, and more dramatic plus angsty. Well, everything becomes angsty if there's LJK in it. The concept itself is nothing new, the lover that wishes the happiness of the other half and knowing that he's dying, he did what he thought the best for his girl, lessen her sadness and preparing her to move on. Kind of one sided and bittersweet, which is the point of angst. And I seriously hope that I get to see LJK doing rom com for a change in the future (WITH HAPPY END), because his track record of angsty work just keep piling up and my DoM heart can take it so much. The nice touch at the end, they use LJK's For A While to end the movie.
Overall, something to watch if you want to squeeze some tears while watching LJK did some fan service :p.

Goblin Epi 1

Well, at least this one is more truthful than that harem drama by stating a 'sad love story' from the get go, so you know what you're getting into and prepare your heart if the guy ended up dead, he's a goblin (a hunkie one at that) anyway. So many deaths from the first half of the episode, but at least it's balanced by the comedy side of the friction between our hunkie goblin and hunkie shinigami (I hate the hat though, what's up with that get up???). The background is beautiful (the church, the field, the sea), but I hope those pretty backgrounds don't depleted the whole budget that the latter episodes suffer. At least this is something that will probably keep me interested because I'm on the verge of dropping the rest of the current drama...

Weighligting Fairy Kim Bok Joo Epi 1-2

This drama is so pastel, cute and fluffy... hope there won't be so much angst, but hey, what's angst after that harem drama? LOL. If Baek Ah not getting any happiness in that harem drama, he will get his in this drama, I'm 99.999% sure of it. And Baek Ah is really an eye candy (I can't remember his character name here, and Baek Ah is still easier to remember, maybe after few more episode I'll remember his name LOL), that 8 packs is a sight to behold. I love the LJS cameo scene in epi 2, they did a good job in making the W reference, from him being the shooter, the dialog is done with Yeon Joo's senior, and the reference that he looks like manga character, plus the W OST at the background, really nicely done! And the girls are so cute (the weightlifting team, not the bitchy gymnastic team). Their love for food is over the top, and I hope this don't change in the future episodes.

Cain & Abel Epi 1-2

This drama will have lots of angst brewing, especially after epi 2 when Yu found out that his big bro is going out with Azusa. There'll potentially 1 bitch in this drama, Yu's friend (that friend who's trying to get his attention and seemingly good would probably become a liability later), I already don't like her from the get go, but we'll see. I'm looking forward on Yu's character development. In this first 2 episode, he's just running around trying to do his job, overcoming the challanges without sit back and have some changing enlightment, but I'd think episode 3 will show this and I want to see Yamada's angst!!! I hope there's no rabu2 scene in this drama because I just can't imagine it, nope, no, I just can't. Somehow I'm scared with rabu2 scene for j-drama especially if Johnny's boys are the leads (only a few, and I really mean A FEW, only can be count by 1 hand okay, are the exceptions).

I'm holding back from watching Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim because I can't take the main lead's idiocy, I'll wait until he's not that idiot (my friend is watching so he'll tell me when it's time to watch again LOL). And I'm droping that Sweet Stranger something, as much as I like to see Lee So Hyuk, but spending time on that drama? I'd rather read more harem drama fanfic...
spsn: (Default)
This has officially become my cure of harem drama, but with a hefty cost, my tummy... OMG my tummy... it's screaming for food everytime I watch this, and I blame this on Eric!!! His cooking skills is no joke (though it looks slow and it has become a running joke on the show, but I'd be slow too if you have to cook in stations and with minimal gadget and to be frank the stove and the prep space is not made for efficiency LOL) and I feel so much lacking in cooking skills (and I cook a lot) when I saw him cook on this show. I know Eric can cook from Shinhwa Broadcast, but this show seems to showcase his true skills, and it's a joy to see. His cooking style is very close to mine, no measuring, based on tasting, and he makes things look easy. For example, I have fear of trying to cook jjapchae (it's bloody expensive in restaurant, and I always thought this dish is so difficult to make), but after I saw Eric doing it... hey, wait a minute, it's not that complicated, and his version looks so doable. So I'm going to try it one of these days (after I bought the ingredients, and Korean pantry is a totally different pantry from Japanese or Indonesian, sigh).

And to think on the next episode, they're gonna have sashimi party... OMG....

PS. I wonder how Eric will cope with this variety or how they're going to schedule the filming when Shinhwa start promoting next month...

With the intention of not going to ever watch the whole thing again because it's so painful and emotionally draining, BUT every now and then there'll be tendency to peek over the OTP story, I'm extracting SoxSoo's scenes. Not all of them are rosy for sure, because they just need to make this OTP so tragic and probably rejoicing over when our hearts bleed.
I have zero skills of video editting, which is why you'll see the transition is so jagged and rough, but I'm okay with the result since the intention is to compile everything together. This is the 1st cut from episode 1 to 4, which means, all the cute stuffs (well, some of them are the angsty So, but still OK).

Enjoy!!!

choose this as the main frame for obvious reason :p

I realized when I started extracting the clips, there're couple of arcs for this OTP, which is good for cutting aka the end file won't be so huge to upload. SoxSoo scenes would probably only make up 20%-30% out of the whole 20 hours --> there's only a mere 20 minutes out of the whole first 5 episodes (OMG, this is ridiculous, yes, we should ask SBS why there're so little screentime for our main couple in the whole series)
The arcs are:
1. The beginning
2. The friendship
3. The chasing aka So will do literally anything for Soo
4. The happiest moment before dooms day aka the only around 10 minutes of joy before all hell break loose (or in other words, finally So's getting some)
5. The downhill (semi angsty out of circumstances but still bearable) aka nothing goes right after So ascended to the throne
6. The breakup and regret (all the angst and illogical turn of event) aka the last 3 episode
Most likely I'll only watch up till part 4 and just make the last 2 parts for the sake of complition or when I'm in the mood for stabbing my own heart with LJK's crying scenes.

So, after finishing the 1st arc, I learned how to use the video editting software and realize that most of the time spent is not on the consolidating the video. It's on the timing all the right clips, and I don't know whether I want to master the skill or just leave it as is because it's very time consuming!

Day 7 of harem drama withdrawal and I think I might find a cure (sort of) to it now. I tend to avoid k-drama medical drama because the details of the medical stuff is rather scatchy, especially if you compare to j-dorama which is more systematic when it comes of medical details. But, if you just ignore all those details and don't read the subtitle word by word and think too hard, particularly for this one, it ain't so bad LOL. For epi 1, this one has more action compared to Doctors and Seo Jung, the female lead is quite a bad ass (do not compare her with Daimon Michiko, ever, she'll remain as the most bad ass female doctor in drama history as of todate). Plus, the intern aka the male lead is well, a stubborn intern, but a damn good kisser too. Yes, this one is one of those rare drama when we have kiss & confession scenes in 1st episode, and the confession has the line 'I wanna sleep with you.' Short cut. But off course this is a drama, so there'll be more stuff coming. Overall, looks OK, and probably I can move on from... you know...

In the meantime, let me end the day with reading SoSoo fanfics... tons of disgruntled and traumatized fangirls means lots of fanfics (blessed them, they're amazing writers).
spsn: (Default)

The series is finally ended, and I thought I could sleep better… not really. It took me 2 more times of rewatch and the whole ordeal of experiencing emotional pain and pang in the chest (thankfully not to the point of Soo's style of chest pain) to actually have the ending sunk into my brain and said, 'yeah, it's over, it's okay and I'm not bitter about it.' Not really. There's still 1 tiny bit of darkness in my what's left of my so-called soul (LJK shredded my soul in this episode, honestly) saying 'how dare you bloody writers, do you even understand what your consumers aka fans want, after you make the characters so compelling, pitiful, and went through so much shits and we spent 17 hours watching (excluding the wait, the rewatch, the discussions, the stalking on anything, and the list goes on), and only then you realize that you have some sort of obligation to follow the Chinese version and lumped all those angsts of resentment, jealousy and regret in the last 3 episodes, and you still have a cheek to think that giving us a cliffhanger super wide open ending in hope for 2nd season - which I don't think will ever happen, and you writers, having to work in the industry should have known better!!!' Phew, OK, I already let all out. No wait, there's more, 'Writers, if you want to follow Chinese version, then do it right! Don't just do it half-heartedly and left both of our main characters without closure at the end of the show. At least in Chinese version they met again like how destiny/fate is supposed to be portrayed, for goodness sake!!! If deep regret and sorrow is what you mean by closure, then I'll be wary the next time I watch a drama and see your name(s) as script writer, even those who write fanfics did a much better job with the ending with their creative mindsets, and so much of 'creative license' that you've been pasting on the beginning of every episode'. *exhale... ah better*

Hey drama, throwing in this kind of cute Gwanjong doesn't mean that you can get away with everything, no?

Cut cut, since this is quite long and also SPOILERS... )

And now what should I do? I don't even have the motivation to watch other drama, yet. The only healing that I think works is watching Eric cooks, damn he can cook! His Japchae looks freaking good. Another one is listening to Arashi's new album Are You Happy? Like this one better than Japonism, this one is LOVE 2.0 with some major upgrades.

Plus anybody can link me to a good tutorial on how to put together a clip, basically a tutorial for editing that is quite user friendly and not mind boggling with freeware coz I wanna cut all my favorite Wang So scenes into 1 file so that I don't need to watch the whole painful 20 hours episode just go see the scenes that I like.

spsn: (Default)

since I have to work with full focus and a sane mind tomorrow aka waiting for live stream so that I can sleep in peace eventhough i dont understand korean...

this cheers me up a bit lol, amazing editing skills and the labor to find the right timing etc, and it shows how much impact of editing and bgm can do to the same scenes, heck this just converts all those wrecking scenes into a comedy, though i dont understand the caption lol

I thought I'd lump this with the final episode today, but after I watched this one with the sub... nah, it'll be too much. As we're going to the last episode, there's so much literal shit crammed into this 1 episode, worse than epi 18, and it's going to the direction of C-version ending. I hope it goes a different way considering how different the characterization between the K and C-version, but since it's already done this way, then let's see how it goes with the final episode.

Cut it in case it looks super long on dashboard :) )

Sweet Stranger and Me Epi 1 & 2

Lee Soo Hyuk brought me into this drama and he still looks pretty much like Gwi in modern times (OK, Gwi didn't die after that fight with Yeon Seol, he lives for another thousand years, that makes a perfect sense). The phase is not bad and the story itself is not 100% new (the concept is kind of similar to Yan Papa but off course Yan Papa is a more family focused drama, not a romance one. There's at least another one in Jdorama realm but I can't think of the title at the moment). But regardless, I got to say that this drama is hella entertaining, a stress relief from that harem drama but only to realize that Queen Hwangbo is in here as well as Duk Bong's secretary (who basically rolls eyes at her employer almost all the time LOL). We'll probably see a number of angst in the latter episodes (but hey, what's angst after watching that harem drama LOL). In the meantime, there're lots of funny scenes from each episode eg. when NanGil lifted up NaRi with Whitney Houston's BGM queue (and I will alwayyyss loooveee youuuuu, OMG, that's just hillarious), or the doctor was concerned with Duk Bong's 'paleness', or any bickering scenes of the 'father' and daughter. They're enough to make you smile. So unless the annoying girl gets too annoying (yes, there's this shameless girl whose goal is to just wreck other people's relationship aka a boyfriend thief), I don't think I'll fast forward the episode with the current phase. And lastly, when LSH going to get the girl? This is for the x number of times he ain't get the girl LOL.

Nigeru wa Hajida ga Yaku ni Tatsu Epi 2

I'm happy with this drama. It's fun to watch and it injects social opinion enough to trigger discussion on marriage & employment. In this episode, the focus is on meet the family and the pressure from society to have that wedding party. Arguments are thrown such as it's a waste of money, it's a way to tell the society 'hey, we're married now', or just simply it's the things in life that you do. Each options are explored and weighed by our main couple. What I like here, they discussed things together, and both gave opinions and not holding back at it, but I'm not sure whether this will continue when they add on jealousy into equation LOL. There's also the snippets of discussion between marriage and carrier between Mikuri and her mom, which I found it makes perfect sense. After all, the marriage itself is very sudden, and it's natural that the mother questions what Mikuri wants to do with her carrier. But from this episode, what I like the most is when Tsuzaki & Mikuri had dinner and Tsuzaki was concerned that Mikuri couldn't sleep, and he said this: A workplace is not made with the employees' effort alone. The employers also have to put in effort. I completely agree on this. This is something that lots of companies seem to neglect, they put in tons of KPI, expectations on employee but turn sideways on what the employee actually needs and this reflects on the company culture and office environment. So relatable that I applaud the script writer for this. Can't wait for the next episode, we're going to see that how the 3rd party will affect this marriage contract XD.

Doctor X Season 4 Epi 1

We're at the 4th season already and as expected with any Doctor X series, Daimon Michiko kicks ass, again, and Himura is the director now after was almost relieved from his position, wait, he even moved up because of the last minute dirty game LOL. And why Ebina was not in Doctor X this time? It's because he's staring in the other drama with Amami Yuki LOL! Now, when are we going to get Hanzawa Naoki season 2 or Legal High season 3? It's a bit long overdue, don't you think? Oh I almost forgot, we have to wait until Sakai Masato finished the taiga haha...

And tomorrow... epi 19... it'll be angst, angst, angst, and more angst... gah!!!
spsn: (Default)
Ah! This is why I love Fall season, it doesn't disappoint. To be honest, this one is much more engaging than Carrier (but I'd still watch Carrier for Tamaki, unless it's very very very boring). The case presented is much more complicated and it's kind of like Poirot style of deduction, so much details and coincidence which we have to catch in order to piece everything together and create the connection between the criminal and the case. I'm quite indifferent with Tsuchiya Tao, but I totally like Dean Fujioka in here. He doesn't look like he's trying too hard here and he looks good as a butler <3. Yuji Oda's character in here as the eccentric Homonji reminds me of Kaibutsu-kun, but at least Kaibutsu-kun doesn't come accross as annoying as Homonji. He's annoying and rude, but the way he catches on details and deduction will keep you glued to the screen. Definitely will keep on watching this.

Now, what else should I watch? O yeah, Doctor X LOL. I need a dose of 'I don't fail'.
spsn: (Default)
OMG, I honestly felt so drained after watching this episode. It's so stressful and I felt so sorry for precious pup. He went through so much, did his best to keep the throne and ensuring everybody's safety. He basically multitasking his way through all the shits that come his way, from his throne eligibility, the government matters to catching the bad guys aka revenge time and even his own marriage is questioned by people. His decisions for punishment maybe cruel, but which leader in the history is not cruel or to put it more politically correct, makes tough decisions? Depending on which POV we look at, every leader, especially when the person leads & governs a country, will have to deal with shits and it's not pretty at all. We as audience can see all sides of POV in this drama and as I kept on repeating myself, this is one k-drama where everything is gray (except for the evil Queen), there's no real good and bad guys. Everybody has both sides of the coin. So when Soo pushed away So especially after Chae Ryeong's execution, I just felt like smacking her head. Yes, she went through so much and I felt sorry for her, but she needs to see from the other side as well, which was highlighted by dearest Baek Ah (blessed his soul, he's the only purest sweety in this whole drama, too good for this era). One lesson to be had from this episode is in any relationship, communication is the key! Setting up expectation and notifying in advance is one way to avoid miscommunication in the future because in this drama, the outcome is so costly and tragic. I dread for next week, when they throw in the Wook card into the equation. It'll be one huge bloody mess and poor pup won't be able to handle it nicely (he's already so stressed out and felt hopeless and alone, plus his Soo was not on his side and pushing him away, OMG, I'll be damn if he's not gone insane yet). There's only so much shit a human can take.

Oh, and LJK performance in this episode was superb! The angst, pain, desperation, sadness are so real that it'll pull you into So's heart. LJK always has this ability to pull you into his world, especially in his saeguk drama, but this one is another different level. This series really raises the bar for his next project, and my expectation. LOL

I hope there'll be more and more fluff fanfic circulating because I really need them to patch back the pieces of my heart until next week when it'll be broken again. Thank goodness last week is the last!

PS: there's Doctor X season 4!!! yess!!

Fantastic Epi 16

Well, that's another good balance drama. I skipped a lot for this drama especially the superbly evil family scene, and I cheered when Baek Seol finally yelled at the a$$hole husband over the phone, and yey for Attorney Kim to get his happy end. I feel content watching this ending alone. And against all odds, our main cancer patient survived the ordeal, I'm a bit contemplated on this, yes, I'm happy with the happy end and it gives hope and all the good stuffs, but at the same time, not all cancer patients survive and thrive against all odds. However, that might be, the journey is fun and delightful to watch. They put all emotions in all together in every episodes and deliver it with a much lighter way (well, if you compare it with the harem drama.... so... yeah). I'm a bit worried about JiSoo though, yes, it's good that he's everywhere now, but I kind of feel that his roles are about the same, from angry mom, harem drama, and now this. Only a slight difference, but at the end of the day the delivery is about the same, the awkwardness, the charging ahead, well, the look and feel is the same. Is it maybe because they're all side characters that there's not much room to really grow the character or it's just the roles personalities that he took in are about the same in a way. I look forward for something different, the kid is eye candy with potential <3.

Career Epi 2

As we move on to episode 2, I kind of warm up to Tamaki's character, sort of let go the annoyance of 'try too hard to be friendly and lowkey' vibes on his character, and I surely hope they put a stop of the shining light effect everytime Chief Toyama flashed out his police badge, the aweing plus LOL effect kind of fast turned into annoyance. I guess, we'll keep having the situation whereby there're multiple (maybe more than 2) completely unrelated minor case which will end up linked together and Chief Toyama has the eye of details to connect all those things together. In this episode, it's quite interesting and I'd hope the quality of the case will go up as we progress further. I like what the subordinate said about Chief Toyama and Minami combi, 'the perfect combination of great insight and intimidation', what a perfect description! I hope Minami will soon lighten up towards Chief Toyama because clearly Chief Toyama has a lot of cards under his sleeves, but if by Epi 4 he's still the same, I'll be majorly sighteyeing the writers!

Nigeru wa Hajida ga Yaku ni Tatsu Epi 1

Damn, the title sure is long! I watched this to get away from that harem drama withdrawal syndrome, and this is sure a great relief. Light and non-damaging at all. Well, at least this is the life action from a josei manga, not some shoujo manga (we have too many of those already). The story is about exploring the idea of marriage as an employment contract, meaning the husband employs the wife as a housewife, and gives her the salary she's entitled from all the housework done. I like the approach of this drama, they make it look like Jonetsu Tairiku style to introduce the characters' background. While it's all fun and all that, I do wonder what's the message from this drama. The main character, Mikuri, though a university graduate, couldn't find a proper full time job and ended up with a temp job and just got laid off. Having nowhere to go, she accepted the part time job as a cleaner for Tsuzaki, our main dude. The proposal for the marriage contract looks like the runaway ticket for Mikuri against reality. So what this drama is trying to tell the audience, get married if cannot find a job? I haven't read the manga yet, kind of tired if I have to read the manga for all the live action drama. But, I do hope that they're going to have Mikuri's character grow to have more backbone and face the tough job hunting field.

That harem drama Epi 16-17

Ah, the drama which has consumed me for the past few weeks, and I'll have a major withdrawal syndrome once this drama ends next week. Gosh, it's only left with 3 more episodes and there's only angst, angst, and angst, well, with carrot dressed in diamonds for epi 16, if I should say. The drama is telling us that we, audience, should be greatful for any hint of cuteness of our main OTP SoxSoo while butcher our hearts by eg. killing off the most innocent characters of them all and to make it worse made the precious pup did the dirty job. To add to our list of angst, we have the break out, the wait, and rejection coming our way before the carrot dressed in diamonds is presented in like... 6 minutes screen time, and yes, we, audience, will still eat it up and crave for somemore angst. Epi 17 is just brewing more angst for Epi 18 (kind of dread of what's coming, esp with the preview of precious pup crying, he's been through A LOT, apparently not enough for the sadist writers to torture this character). Well, in the meantime, I'll just fill myself with lots of fluff fanfic of SoxSoo, if they don't get the happy end, there're tons of fanfic ready to be unleashed to satisfy the thirst for the happy end LOL. And after all these, by now all the snakes in the palace are still alive and well and are out to eat up our precious OTP, noooo!!! I'm still clinging on the 'the journey will be painful but it'll have a happy end', but Gwanjong with eyeliner kinds of make me waver, damn!

Oh the implied meaning... LOL...

Fantastic Epi 14

I forgot where I left off for this drama, but since harem drama was not aired today (in real life, baseball game takes precedence over the love story of Wang So & Hae Soo), I just randomly click the latest episode... and I didn't miss a thing.
The main couple in this drama is not my OTP, and at the beginning episodes, I skipped a lot. The male lead was rather annoying, the female lead was very emo and kept ding dong-ing over her decisions. The 2nd lead doctor was too perfect to be true (and yes, in this episode, it explains why he's described to be so perfect, am sure they did some snippets here and there in the previous episodes as we saw flashbacks of him). I do get and kind of pity the female lead though. She's fighting her cancer, yet this ex boyfriend of her is pestering her, and on top of that, her work has its own challanges, and in drama logic, any evil characters must be connected at some manners to the good characters. And in this drama, there's no further depth in the evil characters, they're just self centered, self entitled, rude and despicale people, period. I was so glad that finally Baek Seol (my fave female character here) finally stands up to herself (you go girl!). I do hope my OTP ship sails though I'll be fine if it's not either due to their circumstances.

If I were to go back to watch the prior episodes, it'll be solely for the OTP LOL.

Career Epi 1

Finally! Tamaki's new drama. But I'd guess this will be like any typical lighter police drama but less lighter than Bitter Blood. I'd hope for more angst and darker past, but probably will wait for more episode for some of the mysteries to be revealed eg. what's the relationship of the past Chief with Toyama and Minami and what makes Minami to be so annoying as he's now. The first case itself is not that wow-ing, it makes me feel that j-dorama is running out of ideas for their police drama either. Fuji-TV, I think you can do better. There're so many good lighter police drama already, so it kind of hard when you have to compete with the likes of Bitter Blood or BOSS, and even tougher when you go down the darker side eg. Unfair or Strawberry Night. And, if I don't see Chief Toyama start shedding his 'trying too hard to be friendly and lowkey' attitude and actually kick some actual ass (I don't need the actual kick ass because Tamaki just need to slay people with words and I'll be watching), I can see myself dropping this drama.

While I don't always watch historical drama, I realize that I do have some share of both Taiga and Saeguk (more saeguk though). Though both are featuring historical figures, the approach taken by both Taiga and Saeguk are very different, which makes it very interesting.

Taiga drama <3 )

Saeguk drama <3 )Now the fun stuff )

My list of saeguk drama: Dae Jang Geum, Dong Yi, Jung Yi, Hwang Jin Yi, Empress Ki
Contemporer saeguk drama: Hong Gil Dong, Iljimae, Arang & Magistrate, Joseon Gunman, Scholar who Walks The Night, Queen Inhyeon's Man, Warrior Baek Dong Soo, The Legend, and the current harem drama.
... HELL, I watched a lot of historical stuff, never really thought about it until now... Thanks to the harem drama.

Ah, and we still have weekend for Monday to come... no matter heartbreaking it'll be... sigh....
Nevertheless, history is fascinating and maybe I should pick up Shinsengumi (another history portion that I'm interested in).
